Eve is one of those games that really interests me, but Subscription based really kills my want over my interest.
I've always liked hearing about EvE, the stories, and the general stuff that happens. It convinces me to give it a try, but I end up always quitting after realizing how much of a time sync it can be. It looks fun, but when I hop in, it's nowhere near as fun as it looks.
I really wanted to get into Eve but it's so time consuming.
I really love hearing EvE "watercooler stories" and tales of battles, but as a game it seems like a huge time and money drain without dubious entertainment value.
Damn this trailer makes me want to resub bad. EVE is god damn fantastic.
Makes me think of something that happened when we were camping a station. A spy had gotten into our comms and during a critical moment, he mimicked the voice of our fleet commander and ordered some big ships to get into a really vulnerable position. The results were nasty, and no one were able to find him :v:
Yeah, everyone gives it the "lol spreadsheets" treatment but honestly you could play for years and not even worry about the market
Ask capsups though, and he'll admit to spreadsheets. Except he makes more spacemonies in a week than I've had in 2 years of playtime
The mining clip is literally me in EVE. Probably why I never stay subscribed for more than a couple months.

dude find some bros that will let you into nullsec or lowsec and go for roams or bomber runs.
Your heart will be pounding and your hands will be shaking as you warp in and decloak and fuck up some barges, or fight gatecamps in low outnumbered and outgunned (only to win because your FC rocks <3)

Yeah exactly. I love the spreadsheet aspect of the game though. I even bought Excel spreadsheets from a guy for real money :v:
I've never really been into MMO games but EVE is special.
okay here's a vidoe of me in my first fight from about a year ago. I had no idea what I was doing (my hardeners are off oh god).

For anyone on FP in Blitzkrieg these were the dark times of highsec wars. These guys didn't want to fight us much after this and a few other battles.
Also lmao at "PLEX prices are upwards of 650m"
edit: skip to like 1:25

"Finding some bros" is the one mountain I seem incapable of scaling when it comes to EVE.

Spreadsheets can be unduly entertaining, I had one for production. I liked it but very few do.
Also damn you, my merge

join FP chat and talk to David Dangerfield when he's on we may be able to help with bros
EVE seems so fucking cool for those moments, but my problem is I don't wanna invest many many hours to get those few moments. For some people the investment means you have more stake in the game, but I can't invest that much time.
If you guys a looking for a game which delivers on crazy unexpected multiplayer moments, Sub Rosa is fucking brilliant. Pretty much every 5 min game has surprising, tense moments.
I actually did all right in EvE the last time I played it. I went around exploring in the imicus I got from the tutorial missions and made enough to buy my own astero and whatever fittings I wanted for it, although I decided to not subscribe in the end.
The thing that puts me off about subscription games is that every second I am not playing that game I am theoretically wasting money.
Exploration is a fun activity in EvE actually, the minigame isn't halfbad and doing it in sov space can be a bit of an adrenaline rush
You can also bait retarded stealth bombers who are dumb enough to attack an astero but what the fuck do i know about that
Also Astero and Stratios sexiest ships all ships
Oh fuck me i need to resub so bad but i'm so fucking poor. I actually recognised the voice of one of my old fleet commanders in there. I can confirm though that half of brave newbies is accidentally jumping into a gatecamp and having a fucking blast while doing it. If you are playing mining or exploring in highsec, you're only scraping the surface of what's fun to do in eve. I'm going to plug my corp, Brave newbies, for a sec. We're a null sec corp that owns a region of null-sec called catch. There are no entry requirements for most fleets (every fleet needs tackle, and it takes 12 minutes to train into one) and you can always have a fucking blast. Whenever you jump online, there's almost guaranteed to be a fleet about to go out to pick a fight. Any interest you have, PI, exploration, industry, wormholes, whatever, is supported. They accept trial characters too so don't be scared to jump in and have a go.
Microsoft Excel has never looked so good.

Yeah I tried getting back in EVE and I think according to whatever I was using at the time, had to basically go on, make sure my training thing was max'd out, go do something else because I had barely anything good.
It was some corp that advertised on facepunch I forget the name and I'm very certain i've been kicked out due to inactivity / all my shit probably got taken. I guess if I ever want to get back in I might give brave newbies a go.

Blitzkrieg or Concordiat? If you're an absolute newb Brave Newbies the way to go. If you can fly a few T2 hulls or battleships (competently) that are used in Nullsec we can take you.
If it was blitzkrieg you shit wasn't taken but our land has been abandoned and reclaimed by who the fuck knows.
Some of those voice clips would make for good voice acting in another space game.
This is cool as hell
EVE online is a surreal experience, it's probably the closest thing you can get to living out science fiction movies
I remember taking out a 500m isk Tengu in a hurriedly-fitted Hurricane with a 50-man fleet after a few weeks into nullsec and it was amazing
heh, some of the comments on youtube are like "the voices are 100% scripted". They have no fucking clue how it is in-game.
1:26 sort of sounds like Luke Skywalker. :v:
If you ever want to get impressed by Eve stuff, or so. Watch Rooks and Kings videos, I love 'em. Sure they might done a bit too much pipebombing, but still.
EVE seems like one of those games that doesn't really get fun until a month or so in. I remember playing the trial and it's so damn dull when you're starting out and I just don't have the patience for that.

they're working quite hard on improving the new palyer expierence, they've been going to loads of cons getting feedback on that and how top fix it. next few patches should hit that i imagine, subscribers have been incraesing in droves since ccp seagull took the helm
Literally only played this game to make money used to train Titan sitter pilots rinse n repeat, the +24 hour skill queue will destroy the profits on char trading now though.
if you do get into eve, for the love of god dont jump straight into a massive corp
hell, don't join a massive corp at all. Join smaller ones and work your way up with them, make friends that way and avoid being another faceless pilot. I'd recommend faction war though I haven't played in a while so I dunno how that is now.
and please don't join brave newbies unless your idea of fun is 'spend most of your day sitting in a station waiting for a fleet that'll be wiped out by people in ships 10x as good as yours'. Even mining is fun compared to brave newbies roams. Most fun I've had in Brave Newbies was when we were in high-security and roams started from the relative safety of there. Logging in when we were in low/nullsec and hearing 'yo dont go outside someone will kill you' every goddamn day is not fun. Having to buddy up with the recently homeless TEST players didn't help at all.
If you wanna get into the whole spreadsheets side you're probably better off doing trading rather than mining or industry. Mining is something you'll quickly grow out of and industry takes a lot of time to get into. Anyone can do trading and most skills you'll need for it will still benefit you if you move onto other areas
