there were security videos of them coming back to the Olympic village after the robbery, and they all seemed calm and iirc one of them even pulled out their wallet to grab an ID, which is something I guess he wouldn't have had he been robbed

They were still held at gunpoint on the side of the road until they handed over money. The question is why did Lochte embellish the truth in a media interview, and what was their police report that they lied in? If they agreed to pay for the damages, then why make a big deal? Rio is trying to pretend it's not a violent city, but what about the multiple other althetes held at gunpoint, including a brit who was robbed at gunpoint that same week?

If a man speaking a foreign language ordered me out of a vehicle and to sit on the ground at gunpoint and made me hand over money before I could leave, I'd say that's an awful lot like a robbery. So I still wouldn't say he outright lied until we hear what he said in the police report.
I would like to hear what Lochte has to say, other than a half assed generic Instagram sorry.
