Longtime lurker first time poster here, felt like making a contribution with my first post!
Here's the skinny:
DARPA (Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency) is having a Recon/Patrol vehicle design contest that is open to the public. You are provided with an existing chassis (the Local Motors's Rally Fighter), plenty of requirements and several fictitious situations the vehicle would be used for/encounter. Your job is to design the body of the vehicle; Your design may be anything from a hand-drawn sketch to a 3-D CAD rendering. The prize for first place is $7,500 USD and you must be 18 years of age to enter.

Woah. I wish I knew the first thing about automotive engineering, because this looks like an awesome competition. Somebody should design an unmanned scout reconnaissance vehicle! All military vehicles should be unmanned.

You don't need to know anything about automotive engineering, thats the great thing about this contest. All you need to do is design the body of the vehicle, they do the engineering!

got it! I shall be dropped from plane or helicopter in a metal crate that will unfold on landing, it shall be filled with supplies for marines that are possibly stranded and such, It will either have a parachute or that big inflatable ball that the mars rovers used. It shall also be called IRRV Immediate response rescue vehicle. I think i'll make on in garry's mod lol

k just read the requirements, and I'm wondering why the fuck are they offering us to do all of their work for them. I mean all the requirements were supposed to figure out? thats their fucking job not ours.
This contest should be based on creativity not engineering skills. I mean really?!?! $7500 dollars?!?! my dad makes that much for designing a logo for a small company!!
