They design these games with some sort of rock paper scissors in mind but then somehow expect random pubs to have coordination of any kind. I've been on a team that gets pulverized by vehicles yet no one switches to engineer to take it down in practically every game of BF4. People care more about unlocks and ranking up than anything half the time.
People care more about unlocks and ranking up than anything half the time.
Because that's what BF4 was designed around. You're nearly useless until you have decent set of unlocked weapons and attachments. And class gear too.
Im sorry but this game just isnt doing it for me. it looks like a reskinned ww2 game, it doesnt seem to capture the feel of ww1 to me.
Say what you will about the game but got-dayum those sounds are top notch

Kills only recieve 20 points, players are rewarded for damage inflicted upon enemies, and neutralizing/capturing objectives rewards players upwards of 1,000 points.
Jesus christ those weapon animations are KF2-levels of sexy Also wow a Browning Auto-5. Was hoping that semi auto shotties would fuck off for once in a Battlefield game, but eh.
Auto shotties will always have a lower skill ceiling than pump shotguns though.

BF1 still looks like it could be good but I don't really think of it as a WW1 game, maybe extended WW1 or interwar or some shit
Im sorry but this game just isnt doing it for me. it looks like a reskinned ww2 game, it doesnt seem to capture the feel of ww1 to me.
Then what do you look at and say is a WW1 game? If you say 'sitting in trenches' then how would that be fun?
Im sorry but this game just isnt doing it for me. it looks like a reskinned ww2 game, it doesnt seem to capture the feel of ww1 to me.
They even say it in the video that they are not aiming at a true WW1 feeling but to take it as inspiration and bring it into a modern level.
Then what do you look at and say is a WW1 game? If you say 'sitting in trenches' then how would that be fun?
Verdun as I said a few minutes before. It does the attack, defend, and counterattack stuff perfectly
wouldn't be Battlefield if they did that though [editline]6th August 2016[/editline] contrary to popular belief Battlefield has never been a good representation of the way the military worked for time period depicted it's like saying CSGO should try to be a good representation of how counter-terrorism operations are done battlefield has always had a certain type of gameplay and everything else has always been in service of that core gameplay
and even then, the tactics used in WWII were pioneered in WWI, so it taking place in the late war what they have isn't THAT far fetched.
My biggest way to help with the weirdness of the combat: Tell yourself that it's alternate history when playing MP. Immediate immersion. I did that with World at War to explain the Japanese using STG-44s and kicking the dick out of US Marine Raiders
but you can tell some WW1 enthusiasts are having an aneurysm from how you can run around with some of these guns and hip fire them, and how some of these guns being used were conceptual and barely used but are everywhere in the game, etc it looks so good though. i love verdun but i like this for a completely different reason. it pulls me into the game, especially that it's not taking place in the modern era.
I was in the alpha and jesus is it so good. I really like how if you spawn in a tank or plane, you only get a pistol, grenade, and repair tool. So no more Engineer "one man army" deals. If you're a regular class (assault, scout, etc) you can still get in a abandoned tank, but can't repair it. And yes, team play was pushed hard. You can still lone wolf it, but you don't get much if you do. The game is looking very promising and ran very well.
Say what you will about the game but got-dayum those sounds are top notch
DICE always has A+++ sound design.
The same can be said about BF3. I remember when I first got the game, you had to unlock flares for the jets so you could avoid the enemy missiles, otherwise you would get instantly killed. I think they fixed that later on or so (?) but the fact they shipped it like that goes to show that DICE suck at game-balance.
Yeah they just gave everyone flares in the end as a balance patch if I recall. I remember having them finally after never having them before. They didn't take much to unlock, but for a new jet pilot you had no chance in hell.
I want to play that as the last battlefield game, I played was 1942.

I'm not saying make them the default weapon and you have to unlock the rest forcing people to use them, im saying they should be an All perk weapon that you can pick by choice from the start. Bolt action rifles do not instantly = mil sim or realism. Call of duty 1, United Offensive, 2, 3, WaW, Medal of Honour Allied Assault, spearhead, breakthrough, Battlefield 1942, secret weapons, road to rome are just the few i played the shit out of religiously. They all featured bolt action rifles and they all fit in just fine, none of those games devolved into this fabled trench fest people keep spouting. Aside from DoD, they were all as casual as todays equivlent shooters. Anyway for what it's worth, i like the look of BF1 even though i am dissapointed.
I don't recall so many SMGs being used in ww1
I don't recall so many SMGs being used in ww1
They weren't, the only one used was the MP18 and that was only at the very end of the war. Similar situation with the semi auto rifles. Pistols, bolt action rifles and machine guns dominated the battlefield.
I think the thing that disappoints me about what I've seen so far is that DICE have this awesome, very different world to work with but they're just cookie-cuttering the modern battlefield gameplay onto it when they could be making it play much more uniquely. That said, I have no doubts this is of EA's doing and I haven't played the game yet so I can't really talk much.
I'm just wondering if there's gonna be CoD:BlOps levels of anachronism in their weapons.
