• Any suggestions to a new airsoft player?

Just as the thread title says. I'm looking to buy my first Airsoft gun but don't know where to start. I've been lurking on the airsoft section for a few days and see some nice looking guns, but I don't know where to buy/what brands to buy to get the best bang (hurr) for my buck. I've been eying this for a while: http://www.hobbytron.com/ElectricCYMACM031AK74RifleFullMetalFullStockAirsoftGun.html Anyone here actually own this gun who can say anything about it? Also looking for a good M15A4. Any sugestions for that? What price range would I be looking at for a high quality one? Lots of questions here, I know. Thanks for any answers. :) EDIT: Also, looking for sights as well.
Use the question thread. That's my two cents. [editline]8th May 2011[/editline] But in all honesty. Hobbytron is shit, don't buy from Hobbytron. From what the AK-fags here tell me the CYMA AK's are good-to-go.

EDIT: Yeah that big fat sticky at the top of the page should have been obvious. Sorry for the fail thread lol. Close?
Hobbytron is shit, buy from www.airsoftgi.com CYMA AK's are very nice, definitely consider one. If you want a 74 series, I recommend getting the 101, basically the same thing but with a folding stock.

The S indicates the folding stock. The 101 is basically an export model of the 74, chambered in 5.56mm NATO instead of the Russian 5.45mm round. I'm not sure what external differences there are.
Actually no, the 101 has the folding stock standard. The S denotes the specific type of side-folding skeletal stock intended for paratroopers and light recon. You can get a standard 101 that has a side-folding stock but isn't an AKS-101.
Echo 1 is a great brand for new players, they're sturdy , most of them are at least partially metal, and they all look authentic. My P90 is a great gun in its own right, here: http://www.airsoftgi.com/product_info.php?products_id=3819 Great gun, really light, good FPS and range. I splurged and got a red dot sight, which helps a lot with long range accuracy (the iron sights have some to be desired). Also fires decently fast. 8.5/10 for new players, not sure about more "hardcore" players.
Thanks for all the replies guys. I checked out that sticky and it's true, AirsoftGI is the god of airsoft stores. Eyeballing this beauty: http://www.airsoftgi.com/product_info.php?products_id=7649 Won't be able to afford that for a while, and quite frankly, I'm afraid of it. LOL I'll start with that CYMA ak and move forward from there: http://www.airsoftgi.com/product_info.php?products_id=4006 $145 is very affordable to start with. Any suggestions for attachments to look forward to buying?
You don't start with a GBBR. And an AK should be wood and steel, no attachment.
You don't start with a GBBR. And an AK should be wood and steel, no attachment.
G BB R Gas BB What? :P
G BB R Gas BB What? :P
Gas Blowback Rifle=GBBR
Gas Blowback Rifle=GBBR
0\ right. And why not if you don't mind? I would assume the price would be the main reason (Gas, magazines, and the gun itself)
because its dumb and you should always experience an aeg as your main weapon and get used to it and airsofting, and learning how to a use a way cheaper gas blow back pistol and master the arts of gas before you buy a 400 dollar gbbr with 50 dollar mags and fuck it up

Didn't plan on it, don't have the money for the gun itself muchless constantly buying gas for it, and I would most likely break it. I'm looking at a GBB Desert Eagle for my pistol but want to get a rifle before that. Thanks for the info though :)
Gas blowback rifles tend to be pretty high on the maintenance scale, they have way more moving parts than say, an aeg (automatic electric gun), so you need to clean and lubricate them a lot. Also they break a lot more than aegs do. They tend to lack consistent accuracy due to the nature of expanding gas. It's a bitch to use them in the winter because propane doesn't like cold weather. During the summer most shoot way above field fps limits. That's pretty much the bad. The good is they have amazing recoil and realism factor, and they have a loud firing report. If its your first gun get an aeg, the ak you posted looks cool. EDIT: ninjas...

Maintenance never even crossed my mind, and never would have thought about the issue of using them in the winter. Thanks very much for that post.
Yeah it's good to have a reliable AEG as a backup if you are getting a GBBR since they can be problematic at times. I know a few people who sold their AEG's for GBBR's only to have them break down on them, and be without a gun.

Doesn't he still have his numerous other pistols and rifles in various conditions of repair, or lack thereof?
You should start with something a bit cheap if you haven't played before. I've seen one of my friends order a 300 dollar gun and then decide he hates airsoft. Also, Scopes are for chumps *trollface*

Wow, school must be out. BUMP EVERY THREAD EVER.
I got a CYMA AK. It was overpowered so we had to cut the spring which then blew up my gears. Had to buy a fresh steel set.
I cut springs, but then I know what i'm doing...
My brother was the one who cut the spring, and he does know what he's doing. It wasn't a case of "SHIT IT SHOOTS TOO HARD LETS BUTCHER THE INTERNALS AND TRY TO MAKE IT SHOOT LESS GOOD"
