I remember seeing one tribal tradition where they made gloves out of leaves and filled them with bullet ants. Then every young adult male in the tribe had to wear the gloves for like and hour or two, maybe more, to prove that they're men.

Honestly, this really is a lot less worse than some of the things the tribes do, like lip plates. At least they aren't completely ripping their lips out to obscene diameters and making themselves into something from an HP lovecraft story.
