• My WIP Album/giant instrumental progressive song...thing..

So lately (and by lately I mean over the course of the last god knows how many months) I've been working on a song what is also an album. It's one giant flowing song that goes from part to part to create an album, but it's still technically 1 giant song split up into multiple parts. It's not quite finished, the final time I'm going for is roughly 1 hour of music, and I'm currently somewhere around 48 minutes, but I've finally gotten around to recording demo's of the 5 completed parts that I have, which is roughly 43 minutes of music, and uploaded it to soundcloud. https://soundcloud.com/innerconflict-1 I'd really like to hear what you guys think of it, and what you think I should do with it, because frankly I'm a bit stumped where to take it. I've put a lot of effort and emotion into this song, so I'm hoping that shows in the music and that it doesn't suck too terribly. Please feel free to critique as harshly as you deem necessary, to help me grow as a musician. Cheers!
I am going to be really honest here: I was excited to see someone making progressive music aswell and then I did read "43 minutes of music" so I thought this will be great. What really led me down is that it's all midi... guitar pro sounds which sound absolutely terrible :( I think the composition could sound great recorded with real instruments (or vsti/vst) otherwise you won't get much listens on your stuff man. Wishing you the best tho, get some recording going! It's worth it!
i listened to parts from here and there the writing is good, even great at times, but your production leaves much to be desired, especially on the drums the guitar tone is decent, but the cymbals on the drums give me a headache computer-generated instruments definitely have their limitations, but you should be able to do better than that at least so yeah, its enjoyable stuff, but you need to improve on your production i'm not exactly one to talk here, since i'm not great at production myself either, but this is still my honest opinion would like to listen to the full thing when you release it
It's not technically midi since I am using the RSE in the guitar pro program, but unfortunately I don't have any recording equipment to get an actual guitar sound, so I'm making due with what I have. I do agree with you, it would sound a lot better if I could get a proper recording done.

You will progress immensely as a musician and your stuff will shine  [editline]4th February 2014[/editline] Also listen to hakita, hes a gp6 pro ;)

I'll admit my mixing sucks and I probably have the drums turned up a bit too loud. I'll keep that in mind for the future. A gp6 pro? He could be just what I need. I'm using GP5 because I can't for the life of me get GP6 to sound how I want, so I default to the old sound engine of 5. If you want the GP files I'll glady send them to you if you'd like.

I have I think all my drums set to FFF for whatever reason, I don't remember why I set it to that for the entire thing but I have. Drumming is definitely my weakest spot when it comes to writing music, and I'm not quite sure how to go about improving it. https://www.mediafire.com/?99wktro4ptt644k Here are the GP files. and my steam account is villawolf66. I'd really like to get some help with this song, and getting the most from the sound engine of GP6, if you're willing to help.
i'm not too great but ill try my best
