EA’s most recent entry into the series will drop on October 12, 2010, and move from World War II forward to modern-day Afghanistan.
EA has officially announced that the newest entry into the first person shooter series Medal of Honor will debut in America on October 12, with a European release of the 15. A new trailer also accompanied release date news, which you can see below.
The former World-War-II-based shooter is following the trail (of money) left by Modern Warfare and rebooting the franchise with a current setting, a new story, and a new look.
The game will be set in present day Afghanistan, and players will jump between characters of an elite task force known as Tier1 that is under the command of the National Command Authority, and standard issue military personnel.
EA brought in military consultants to help up the realism quota of the game, and missions should have a heavy emphasis on real-life tactics used by special forces teams – at least as far as realism will carry you when you are playing a game that encourages you to shoot hundreds, if not thousands of bad guys.
A multiplayer portion of the game has been announced, but no details on how it will look or play, yet. EA will most likely debut more details at this year’s E3, but the game will hit stands this October.

Actually looks pretty decent, interesting storyline so far and sleek as hell graphics. It's like a mixture of BFBC2 and MW2. I want to be hopeful, but it seems like they are doing this for the cash that's been rolling in for Modern Warfare.
DICE handling the multiplayer, and the original devs handling the SP, plus the fact that the trailer was beyond epic say enough of this game.
As I said in the other thread, I hope this is more like MW2. BC2 sucked so much ass.
They had me at stealth missions.
I wish they'd stop with the special forces routine, I don't want to be a super hero who runs around with a tacticool gun shooting hundreds of enemies in an action hero-like cliche storyline.
I want an emotional, realistic, gritty experience of an infantry man, I don't want to be elite, I want to be human, I want to have flaws, I want fear breaching a room, I want to fear an RPG, I should fear war. The Gulf War, the Iraq War, Vietnam, Korea any of these wars would fit the bill well and be original (More or less) and have the chance to truely make a unique experience.

Agree, but this still looks pretty fun.

No.
Destructable buildings please.

Project Reality would fit the bill.

I disagree.

Agreed. Being a scared little recruit > A elite super soldier.

Kind of scared to get excited about this game. Looks kinda MW2-ish.
Fuck yes. This is MoH so your not going to have the hurr "If you duck behind cover you heal in 4 seconds".

The problems with that, as much as it would be an awesome idea, is that it won't appeal to the "gaming community"
Everyone else (AKA: Not us) just want an action packed game filled with explosions and action and guns and killing, not a storyline.
It's a shame, but it's pretty much the truth. People like us have to deal unfortunately, until others come to their senses.
If there was a realistic game about the current war, there would be maybe one ambush and a shitload of defusing bombs.
Project Reality would fit the bill.
I'm waiting for the ArmA2 Version and the ArmA2 expansion pack to come out. I tried to play PR on BF but it didn't want to start.

I was so excited for that, tragic it didn't get published.

This is the thorn in the lions paws (Bad expression?) Because where as I get my panties in a knot when someone calls a magazine and clip and they arm Russians with TAR21's and other NATO weapons the general public ADORE it because they'll go to school and say, "Yo that deagle is da shit son, I fukin scoring headshots from across the fukin map." Because, it appeals to them to be super men I suppose, but I always found it terribly unrealistic. I like an authentic and believable game.
MW2 storyline may have been a bit far-fetched. But the parts where I was fighting on American soil were pretty incredible from a visual standpoint. I don't mind if the game is a bit far fetched if they do it well, but it would have been better if the EMP didn't lock soldiers in their tanks and drop military choppers from the sky. That's just stupid.

Six Days in Fajitas is back in developement again.
I don't even know why people disagree with me, BC2 felt like ARMA - really awkward. Plus it had a shoddy selection of guns.

How do you know it's not going to be like this? It's already been said that you'll play it from a few different POVs.
I'm tired of the same scripted routines.
I want an experience something like BF2 gave me when it first came out. A soldier, amongst others.
It's already been said that you'll play it from a few different POVs.
Sure, because every other game with that is incredibly realistic, especially Modern Warfare 2.
Yaay
Looks like MW2.
Now if it doesn't have matchmaking, lots of overpowered weapons, aimbots everywhere and if it's more like BC2 it'll be good.

ArmA feels great and it tons better then most FPS's (if you can even call it a FPS), you just have to get used to it. And yes the guns are generic, but how does that make BC2 a bad game?

00:23 on, that's where I started to lose hope. I saw them kick down the door and the instant their muzzle cleared the breach they unloaded into the room like 5.56 was going out of style.
Rules of Engagement, I don't care if you were taking RPG fire from the shack, you don't blindly unload into a room. He points the gun to the left and fires without looking. There could have been a child cowering in the corner for all he knew.
Or the point that the body in the office chair is rigged with explosives so he kicks it out the window and jumps to the floor. That's Hollywood stuff. Sure, it happens but it's so rare that it's not an accurately portrait of war.
All I saw was footage of Special Forces and some views from a chopper, it didn't left something to be desired.
Although... it's probably going to end up like MW2/BC2 with me really starting to dislike it after a while.
They both got so boring. And with BC2 looking like it does (It doesn't look that great) I shouldn't have the FPS that I do. :argh:

It had a authentic selection of guns. I'll agree with him, it's a bit awkward and it's a refined taste but I love it because it's basically the most realistic military simulation game out there. The United States Army and Marines use it, the Austrians use it, the Germans even use it as training aids for their troops to practice and exercise tactics and strategy.

Yeah its a bit awkward but it took me like 5 minutes and I was used to it. People bitch about it like its horrible, it makes the game feel more realistic.
I've been playing it since release and honestly I still have trouble with it, especially planes and driving generally. I can't play online for some reason, but I constantly play with the editor.
The level of realism in ArmA 2 staggers my mind though, look at this fucking guide:

http://ttp2.dslyecxi.com/tactics.html
http://ttp2.dslyecxi.com/veh_usage.html
It looks more like a military training manual then a hint and tip guide for a video game.

So much story and fear.
When I drive I just use the third person view and I never fly anything since I play online and I let the pros handle frying (first attempt at flying a heli failed miserably). And yeah that guide way over the top but I read a good 1/3 of it before I bought the game so I would know what to do.
