I can't take those masks seriously. Even before the whole "Le Reddit Mask" thing the face looked too funny to take seriously.

anyone can put on a Guy Fawkes mask and say "I am anonymous pls take me seriously" because people automatically assume anyone who uses that label is a ~dangerous cyberterrorist~ when, more likely than not, it's just some script kiddy who'll try and ddos their websites or something

The issue is that there is no defined group "anonymous," anybody can say they represent anonymous but in reality they might just be working with a small group of friends. Historically people just say they represent all of anonymous to gain media attention, when in reality it's just a few people. It's like free publicity.
