Call Of Duty: WWII Drops Loot Boxes Onto Normandy Beach So They Can Be Opened In Public

really bringing it back to the ww2 days, sledgehammer has introduced cargo cults to their latest video game

Apparently opening them in public increases your "social score", which increases your chances at better items from boxes, or something
Kinda reminds me of way back when Team Fortress 2's crates and crafting were new and the server you were on would be notified of whatever you crafted or unboxed.

I'm not satisfied with the state of the games industry until I can play pachinko machines with my mates in my ww2 tanks.
This shit is fucking cancer
Idk am I weird if I think the hub area is kinda cool?
The title made me think they were dropping ACTUAL loot boxes on the real Normandy Beach for people to open :v:
This is beyond scummy.
I don't see what the problem is, the only reason my grandfather survived WW2 was the legendary Sherman tank he unboxed just before the battle of the bulge and I think its important that this aspect of WW2 is finally given a spotlight.
It's a fun game I won't get to play because of retarded business practices. Can't you just sell me a game for 60$ already?

Nah, I think the hub area is pretty cool, it'd be nice if you could go to a firing range and test new weapnos you've unlocked and go to certain bunkers/areas for certain gamemodes, not really bothered about the lootcrates though

I hope I unlock an ultra rare dewritos™ camouflaged Panzerkampfwagen V tank killstreak
This is so hilariously greedy that it feels like a joke. I didn't know how they'd escalate supply drop greed next, but now, people will be influenced by seeing their friends/randoms get good shit that they'll be encouraged to buy their own loot crates. I suspect kids will be hit especially hard by this, especially when there is a YouTuber or other "high roller" in the server opening shitloads of crates. It's the same concept behind seeing someone win a lot of money at a casino, some feel compelled to gamble even harder to be like them.
I'm so glad I don't buy CoD for MP anymore. The moment Zombies and Campaign gets infested by this bullshit, and the moment I can't get hundreds of hours of enjoyment out of Zombies like I did in Black Ops 3, I am done with the series for good. Supply drops were "fine" until they started putting guns behind them. In Black Ops 3, close to half of the damn guns in the game are behind a gambling wall, and you may never get any of them. It's ridiculous, especially when some of those guns are better than other guns in the same class of weapon.
I might be wrong (haven't checked the vid) but I don't know if there's going to be any guns behind boxes.
That'll suck dick if they do another BO3.
aw did it, blops 3 did it, iw did it
i'll be shocked if ww2 doesn't do it
I didn't play the last 3 because the art/gameplay didn't appeal to me all that much, so I wouldn't have known.
I only played AW in splitscreen for a day or so with some friends, rented it n' such
it's a sad state of affairs
the lootbox shotgun pistols in blops 3 are so fuckin op it's ridiculous
If the beta was anything to go by, WWII's multiplayer is already hilariously in favor of the incendiary-shells on the shotguns. Basically the only option is the flaming shotgun or the sniper rifles, everything else is way too slow on TTK.

These can't be real people.
I don't think I've bought a single game that has come out that has lootboxes in it.
And I never will.
Wouldn't this just make it easier for people to make fun of you in a server for wasting your money
Ngl I kinda want a dewritos skin for an M1, just because it'll be hilariously awful.

Are you really surprised
I mean, this post is coming from a place where every negative comment towards the game(even on a small aspect of it) is met with "stfu you haven't played so you can't judge/it's a videogame/stop complaining/etc...
the big issue w/ cod lootboxes is that almost half the weapons in blops3 are now lootbox exclusive and the chance of getting a gun is absurdly low, i have over 100 hours of playtime and have 1 lootbox gun of the 20 or so in the game (not even counting the 15+ lootbox melee weapons that are functionally identical to the knife)
I have the Garand knockoff and 6 melee weapons :suicide:

More to the point, Activision said they wouldn't do it in MWR and then they did it anyway. Their word is meaningless.

The various CoD reddits shit on CoD all the time. During the beta weekend one of the most upvoted posts was talking about the beta not being good.
If this game doesn't have a snoop dogg announcer pack and weed skins then I'm going to go on hunger strike until they add them.
they should make it so the opened lootboxes don't disappear, so after a month every lobby is just filled to the brim with fucking boxes to the point where nobody can move
when a new supply drop falls, you have to dig through millions of empty boxes to find yours
Wait until we get crates to unlock better crates. I didn't think DLC methods could get more reprehensible than they have, but you gotta give it to the game industry to prove me wrong. If only some of that creativity could rub off on the writing team.

Judging by where the industry's headed they seem to be at least real customers.
Does anybody know what that first game Jim is playing is? At about the 3 minute mark or so? It's super familiar but I just can't remember the name of that game.

He was commenting on a video where someone was walking around the HQ area.

My granddad lost control of his left arm when the bomb bay door slammed shut as he dislodged a Market Garden Case™.
He unboxed a factory-new purple heart later so it was worth it tho.
On my mom's side all they got were shitty stens.

Well think about it,
that way you'd just have to buy another crate to impress those closest to you, thus making them even more money
