Researchers from several top American universities found a strong connection between eating meat -- especially muscle meat, like steak -- and masculinity. Study participants, when placed in experiments that explored connections between metaphors and certain foods like meat and milk, were found to rate meat more masculine than vegetables. When people discussed meat, it inspired more masculine words. Additionally, the subjects rated men who ate meat as more masculine than their non-meat eating counterparts. It should, however, be noted that most subjects were from the United States and Great Britain. However, the authors took a close look at 23 languages with gendered pronouns; in most, meat was related to the male gender. "To the strong, traditional, macho, bicep-flexing, All-American male, red meat is a strong, traditional, macho, bicep-flexing, All-American food," the authors write in the study. "Soy is not. To eat it, they would have to give up a food they saw as strong and powerful like themselves for a food they saw as weak and wimpy. "The study concludes that marketing experts and health advocates should consider the thoughts and feelings conjured by foods if they want to successfully shape consumer attitudes. The study isn't the first to make a connection between meat and masculinity. In 2011,Appetite journal published a study that found that people -- even those who are vegetarians themselves -- rated vegetarians as more virtuous, but less masculine.
Be glad I didn't post the story from MSNBC. That piece of shit should never be seen by human eyes. Here is a link if you want to get a story on the detriment of American journalism. Is this news to anyone? I'm not usually one to proclaim commercials as sexist, but the most sexist commercial I have widely seen on TV is Campbell's Chunky Soup. Tons of men eating the soup because it has all the "meat guys love". I'm sorry, do women not like meat? That's news to me.
That other source mentioned Ted Nugent at least 4 times.
That or the fact that you know... meat is kind of delicious.
I just find that most vegetables taste awful, especially broccoli and celery. I like fruit though.
I love vegetables AND meat because I am a big kid! [editline]sarhtieahrvliwyyalushtvluyashtvuyalstadhutau[/editline] Just as I posted that mother brought me some broccoli!
I just find that most vegetables taste awful, especially broccoli and celery. I like fruit though.
I agree with you on the celery part, but don't be making fun of broccoli. I eat that shit raw with a little salad dressing.
I just find that most vegetables taste awful, especially broccoli and celery. Being a vegetarians doesn't condemn you to eating vegetables, you get to eat all the rest of the tasty good shit. God damn do I miss chicken and bacon though.

I like all vegetables, but I love all meat, except for human. That's just no. Also, penis is a no.

See if you can detect the subtle masculine undertones:
tbh I can see how men would eat more meat than women naturally because it gives them more protein to help muscle growth - appealing to that really isn't sexism
I am sure that it would occur as a social creation, but that it would naturally occur slipped my mind, you make an excellent point. I do believe though that women don't have any severely reduced desire for meat.
These men should be ashamed of themselves.
My friends all make gay jokes because I'm a vegetarian.

I'm a vegetarian but I'm fitter than half of you motherfuckers out there. Besides, all that muscle turns to fat when you get old and lazy.
How about both? Most dishes are better with the two rather than just the one. :v:
The only guys I've seen go vegetarian did it to get laid.

I fucking love asparagus, side effects or no side effects.
What exactly made you turn veggie when you miss bacon so much?
Moral reasons.
I'm a vegetarian but I'm fitter than half of you motherfuckers out there. Besides, all that muscle turns to fat when you get old and lazy.
woahhh, tough guy
Same thing with Body wash marketing guys. You gotta wash your "Manhide".
;36023670']Moral reasons.
I've seen a chicken eat a live mouse whole. You can bet your ass they'd be eating you too if they were 50 feet tall. Ice cold mother fuckers are getting what's coming to them/

We are supposed to move past our animal instincts, not use them as justification for cruel actions. I would totally be vegan if I could afford it, since I don't particularly agree with using animals for much of anything. The only exception I can think of is using animals for testing, since that is something we are totally willing to do to ourselves. Ultimately, I think that if it is cruel to do to a human, it is probably cruel to do to an animal as well.
Any guy who thinks not eating only meat will affect their masculinity is pretty damn insecure. Really, it's just food.
I'm willing to shove every kind of meat into my mouth!
Meat tastes good, therefore I eat meat. No amount of sensationalist bullshit is going to make me put down my steak and start grazing.
I'm a vegetarian but I'm fitter than half of you motherfuckers out there. Besides, all that muscle turns to fat when you get old and lazy.
So? Nobody cares, stop bragging.
I fucking love asparagus, side effects or no side effects.
It makes your pee smell stanky.
