Dark Crusade is probably my favourite RTS, but I've only played it online maybe 10 times. Fighting other players is completely different from fighting AI, especially when there are a lot of borderline exploit tactics, eg instantly unloading fully equipped squads from transports, having them do their damage and having them instantly teleport back in before they take enough damage for a single member to have been killed. I wish DoW2's gameplay was closer to DC, its improvements would carry over well. I also wish there were a campaign editor, the AI in DC don't attack aggressively enough on the overmap. I just sat through 25 turns and not much really happened.
Its funny because my actual experience of the dawn of war games was mostly in the demos. The demo for the first game was able to have enough assets in the game, i was able to download a mod that allowed you to have the Space Marines and both the Orks in the game, while unlocking a dozen maps or so. Though i put in about countless hours into the damn game. It wasnt until about a year and a half ago i was able to buy the games.
