A TEENAGER caught shoplifting in Virginia was made to dress up as a "Sesame Street" character for punishment. Costume store owner Andrew Perry caught the 18-year-old but rather than calling the police, he made the unidentified teen dress as Bert - from Bert and Ernie - and carry a sign saying he was a shoplifter, the US ABC News reported. Mr Perry said he did not want to press charges, because a criminal record would have harmed the teen's future. The shoplifter, who said the punishment was an effective lesson, had to spend six hours over two days in costume with the sign in front of the store, according to reports
Now that is real justice :D But :(
I feel bad for all the little children who saw him and now think that Bert is a shoplifter! :D
Read more: http://www.news.com.au/weird-true-freaky/shoplifting-teen-in-virginia-made-to-dress-up-as-sesame-street-character-as-punishment/story-e6frflri-1225939323638#ixzz12ffCseRN
Mr Perry said he did not want to press charges, because a criminal record would have harmed the teen's future.
damn decent of him
That's pure humiliation, a youngster does not deserve such a thing. Although, it is better than charges.

Doesn't your criminal record get expunged when you turn 18?
That's pure humiliation, a youngster does not deserve such a thing. Although, it is better than charges.
an 18 year old is not a "youngster"
Doesn't your criminal record get expunged when you turn 18?
That would kind of defeat the point. At 18 you're able to be sent to a real prison rather than a Young Offenders thing.
I thought it said "Bart" instead of "Bert".
an 18 year old is not a "youngster"
I'm pretty sure teenagers are youth.
an 18 year old is not a "youngster"
Yes, 18 year olds are youngsters.
Doesn't your criminal record get expunged when you turn 18?
No, it is sealed. The record still exists and can harm you on rare occasions.
Snip
we should totally torture the dude right guys!!!
Shoplifters tend to be dickhole "tough" guys, so he deserves it. It isn't like the manager is waterboarding him or something

I thought it has been established that Bert is evil.
easy punishment
lucky kid.
What a nice guy..... the shopkeeper that is. Any other shopkeeper would have pressed charges.
Yes, 18 year olds are youngsters.
Not legally.
Yes, 18 year olds are youngsters.
As an 18 year old, I can join the army, vote, open a bank account, live over seas, become an escort etc. Does that sound like a child who's irresponsible for his actions?
As an 18 year old, I can join the army, vote, open a bank account, live over seas, become an escort etc. Does that sound like a child who's irresponsible for his actions?
No but you do sometimes
Doesn't your criminal record get expunged when you turn 18?
I'm not sure about the states but here in Canada, if you still have time, you can go to jail but your criminal record is no longer public. Employers won't be able to see any past crimes, etc. Only the government and foreign ministries can see your criminal record (You may still be denied entry to other countries)
Well at least he was man enough to take his punishment like that. That shows that he learned something from all this. Either that, or he's terrible at running.
I thought it said "Bart" instead of "Bert".
but it didn't now did it
I Bert he didn't see that coming
No but you do sometimes
that was a pretty sick burn actually
