• To Descend In the Deepest of Caverns - My new piece of metal

So, I've been working on this for the past week and it has finally reached a presentable state as a demo: http://soundcloud.com/spirits-of-oak/to-descend-in-the-deepest-of Any CC and feedback would be greatly appreciated. The mastering and mixing stuff is still in progress, so any suggestions would be an enormous help.
I feel the drums need to be louder, with a lot more low-end. When they come in around 0:30, they're so weak it's almost pathetic, and I have to strain to hear them. Compared to the drums now, the guitar is ridiculously overpowered - beef them drums up. Especially the kick. I didn't even notice you had any kick until about 1:40. I was literally cleaning my ears and stopped and strained to hear something, because I thought I heard something. That's only my real complain. Riffs sound solid to me. I like them. All in all, I like the whole song. Maybe work with the clarity of the guitar tone? Not exactly complaining about it, but it sounds like it could possibly be clearer. Not sure if it'd sound good, but I would suggest you play with it and see what you get out of it. The part post-2:30 is probably my favorite though. Seriously, your playing and composition makes me think of David Meshow. Thanks, you're absolutely right about the drums. I don't know how I managed to miss that, so big props to you, man. I'll definitely do something about the drums. About the clarity - I really can't seem to get a clear enough tone, I've tried. It always seems so muddy, maybe it's my guitar. And David Meshow is awesome, so I consider any similarity as an honor.
So I updated that kick and boosted the snare and cymbals a bit. I think that gave the song a bit more solid body. I also made a video of me playing it, so here - oh, I also shortened the title, but that's quite irrelevant :v:
MUCH better with the beefier drums. Did you do anything to the guitar quality? It seems a bit better than what I remember. Maybe it's just because it's been a few days since I listened to the first version you posted. Now you just need a band. :buddy:
Thanks, I thought the same. And nope, the guitar quality is the same, afaik. Maybe re-equalized them a bit, but I don't really remember. I am actually looking for one right now, so if anyone lives in Latvia, Riga, and wants to play some fucking metal together, hit me up. :v:
