Random question for all you Facepunchers. I know that a small chunk of Facepunch is Asian or of Asian descent so I ask you. Anyone here Chinese and/or Buddhist. The reason why I ask is because I am Chinese and Buddhist and one thing that my family practices is that we don't eat meat on the 1st and 15th on the Lunar calendar (Chinese calendar). I'm wondering if anyone does the same and if you know why. Aparently not eating meat on the first is supposed to be for longevity. Something like that. I still don't quite understand. Also another question is do you eat beef. If you are truly religious you abstain from eating beef (which I don't but I hope I do stop in the near future or so).
If they're Buddhist they probably wouldn't own a computer. If they live in China they wouldn't be allowed on the internet.

I said Chinese descent and Buddhism is the worlds 3rd largest religion and second fastest growing one other than Islam iirc.
These facts are completely wrong :|
Not really.
Chinese but not Buddhist.
If they're Buddhist they probably wouldn't own a computer. If they live in China they wouldn't be allowed on the internet.
If Anything, China has more computer's then us.
Wow that's very stereotypical. Chinese people living outside of China? Preposterous!
If they're Buddhist they probably wouldn't own a computer. If they live in China they wouldn't be allowed on the internet.
I wish there was a name for Chinese living outside of China.
If Anything, China has more computer's then us.
Not per capita
Not all Chinese people live in China and Buddhist are allowed to use computers.
I wish there was a name for Chinese living outside of China.
Normally in Chinese, "Chinese people" is use more often for people to identify themselves outside of China. People who live in China tend to refer to themselves as "Chinese citizens".
Chinamen! :argh:
That is also an acceptable name.
People in my school just call us chinos.
People in my school just call us chinos.
aren't those pants?
I'm Taiwanese, and my aunt is a Buddhist. She doesn't eat any meat at all, or garlic, and some other spices. She says it's because eating meat and certain spices (like garlic) would increase a person's temper. I don't know how true that is, but that's what she told me.
If they're Buddhist they probably wouldn't own a computer. If they live in China they wouldn't be allowed on the internet.
And technology is not banned in Buddhism. My aunt uses her laptop regularly. Also, I'm pretty sure internet is not banned in China.
aren't those pants?
Heh, that's what I ask them Mexicans.
Singaporean Chinese here, but I'm an atheist. A lot of us here are mixed between Christianity or Buddhism.
Chinese but not Buddhist.
This, in reverse.
I'm Hong Kong Chinese Canadian but atheist. My grandparents on my dad's side are Protestants though.
I wish there was a name for Chinese living outside of China.
There is, "Overseas Chinese".
There is, "Overseas Chinese".
That sounds like I just got off the boat from Shanghai, I don't want to be associated with China. [editline]03:01PM[/editline] What ever happened to 'Asiatic'? It sounds so much better than 'Asian'.
What ever happened to 'Asiatic'? It sounds so much better than 'Asian'.
It went the way of terms like "Frankish" and "Germanic", I bet. At least it's better than people calling us "Mongoloids". Personally I just say I'm a Hong Konger.
They have made quite a few tricks to pass the internet use limitations.

I dunno if it's 40% or 60% of the population that's Asian, but it's a shitload of people for not being in Asia
"Lol hai gaiz XD Kawaiiiiii!!!111 desudesudesu chibi!!! Naruto iz da best lol o_o" Thats the only asian person i know irl and on the internet, and sadly he acts like that.
I'm quarter Chinese and Buddhist and I eat what I damn want. My family isn't all that strict about us practicing it but who cares, I follow the basic stuff. Do good stuff, good things may happen. Do bad stuff, bad things may happen. And who cares if the whole karma , dharma, and reincarnation stuff isn't true, I'm being a good human being. I go fucking nuts when i find some kid at my school goes on 4Chan and does all the normal weeaboo shit and then tries to be friends with asians, like me ya know.
I'm Chinese, but not Buddhist, but I do hear that Buddhism has a tradition a bit like that (not eating whatever whenever). My parents are super-buddhists though.
