Protesters at Friday’s “Occupy CPAC” event, organized by AFL-CIO and the Occupy DC movement, told The Daily Caller that they were paid “sixty bucks a head” to protest outside the Conservative Political Action Conference in Washington, D.C.
One protester told TheDC that all the “Occupy” activists were being paid to protest, and that his union, Sheet Metal Workers Local 100, approached him about the money-making opportunity.
“I have nothing nice to say about Local 100. … They just told me ‘you wanna make sixty bucks? So c’mon,’” the protester said.
Other “Occupy CPAC” protesters were unwilling to speak on camera because they were unaware what they were protesting and what the CPAC event was about.

Hah, wow, that site is hilarious. It's like Fox News meets the Sun.
Source looks about as credible as the Daily Fail.
God dammit this is what happens when you let every nutter and asshole into a movement, it loses meaning and slowly loses respect. Shit source for this news story, but my point in general still stands.
God dammit this is what happens when you let every nutter and asshole into a movement, it loses meaning and slowly loses respect. I don't get it, what does this have to do with the Occupy Movement? Are they just saying anyone who's protesting anything is associated with OWS?
I don't get it, what does this have to do with the Occupy Movement? This is trying to say that they were paid to protest.
you're right everyone should be carefully cherry picked prior to joining a protest
No, they need to know what the fuck they're actually protesting about. I live in California and I watched when KTLA picked people out of Occupy LA to talk to them. Most of them seemed to be there just to protest. I heard nothing intelligible about tax reform, reform of how Wall St. Businesses get regulated, or any other key issues Occupy Wall St. was trying to address. I'm not saying people can't join a protest, but for gods sake could they at least read up on what they're protesting about?
The incredibly vast majority of the Occupy movement is very well informed about the situation, and know what they are talking about. The problem I see is that many aren't the most articulate with their words, particularly on camera. Which is a problem with many, many people because its not a situation they are familiar with or comfortable it.

Shit, I'm an awful public speaker. I trip over my own words and stutter and get very distracted. It's not because I don't know what I'm talking about, but because I'm like a lot of people and just not good at public speaking.

That is true, but some of what I said still applies, though I admit as well news agencies probably try to pick the worst of a group.
It's extremely easy to sit on your ass all day criticizing people for NOT PROTESTING CORRECTLY - but it's a whole different thing when you're actually down there with them.
This is also entirely correct. Reading about the protests and seeing a few videos does not convey a proper understanding or insight in to the protests and the movement as a whole. Actually going to the protests and the meetings and everything is entirely different from how it is portrayed in the media.
Occupy protests have a multitude of issues to address and it's perfectly understandable when folks cant quite name all of them.
I know this, I was not addressing unions or trades workers, they have their issues and saw Occupy as a platform for them to address them. My point is a movement loses respect and meaning to a degree when unintelligible assholes join, good intentioned but with bad reasoning and the like. I'm not saying people can't protest, I'm saying some honestly shouldn't. I don't want to hear a 9/11 truther try to force his view points down my throat, he has all the ability to with free speech and all but that's stupid bullshit I don't want to hear. You could say this reasoning is bullshit, but you'll pull a 180 yourself if it was something you really hated, such as lets say the West Boro Baptist's. You wouldn't want them at your protest, even though you're a free speech advocating protest, because you want to separate yourself from their views.
This is like taking those "look at how dumb america is we asked a bunch of people basic political questions and cherry picked the dumb answers" videos Im sure you've seen and treating them as an accurate representative of the nation's education system.
I'm on Dialup I can't watch videos. I dictate my thoughts from what I see in life and news, not biased youtube bullshit. Great to know you're already biased thinking I'm one of those people, good skill in a debate. Sarcasm aside, I also know first hand how our nation's education system works even though that wasn't near what I was talking about originally, strange you brought that up.
Just because there are a few people who dont know -exactly- what the protest is about doesn't mean the entire thing is pointless.
True, but what I was saying is movements get devalued when ignorant people come into it thinking they know what the fuck is going on and actually make it look bad. People who don't know what the protest is about are better then people who kind of know what it's about and approach the issues about it like stupid asses. I'd honestly rather a person admit they don't know about something then to ramble on like a jackass about something they know nothing about.
Right-wing conspiracy theorism, move on.
For a nice alternative to Occupy CPAC, watch Occupy SD and Occupy LA protest the Cali Dem convention.
The whole spheel about protesters being 'paid' to do protest certain events, particularly ones related ton conservative causes, is an old claim that constantly comes up. Usually takes the same form- they found x person(s) say that organization- typically from your list of 'evil' unamerican organizations including but not limited to unions, campus organizations, ACORN, community organizers, etc.
But hey, if these shits want to take potshots by smearing the entire group by some people they found, why not talk about two white supremacist speakers CPAC has invited to be part of a seminar called 'The Failure of Multiculturalism"? Take a look at page four of their schedule of events on February 4th. One of the speakers is Peter Brimelow, a racist shit and probably a white supremacist.

I like how they're having a debate on whether the Arab Spring is good or bad for America.
"Wait! We can't let you have your own democracy! You might not agree with us!"
