I've been wanting to play bass for a while now, but I'm not sure what would be a good bass guitar to start with. Can any bassists here recommend me something good to start out with? Maybe post what worked for you?
What kind of music do you want to play? Budget? There's a guitar/bass/strings thread in the music section fyi.
[QUOTE=cpt.armadillo;43977814]What kind of music do you want to play? Budget? I'm having a bit of trouble finding the thread, do you have a link to it?

I think a P-bass would be what you'd want, I don't play bass much more than fiddling around with one once in a while so I wouldn't know.
If you play jazz I'd recommend you getting the Fender P-bass.
I'd personally recommend a Used Mexican Fender Jazz. Very very versatile bass. Roll off the back pickup and you get P-Bass growl. Run Both pickups and you get a nice full sound great for funk and rock. Use the bridge pickup and you get a very convincing Jaco-like bark. Blend to suit. I have a Musicman stingray and a Fender Jazz as my two gigging basses. I still practice on my first bass every now and then... A Tanglewood Rebel 4K. Since it has the full 24 frets.
