In 2010, the party backed a so-called "flat tax", which it said would be set at 31% and would be achieved by merging income tax and national insurance. But Mr Farage said he now believed an appropriate top rate of tax was 40%. He also said he believed no-one earning the minimum wage or below should pay any tax on their earnings. UKIP, which topped the polls in European elections last week, will set out its economic priorities at its party conference in September, when it will launch a domestic policy manifesto.
watch as UKIP desperately tries to become something other than a single-issue party
I do agree that nobody on minimum wage should have to pay tax on their earnings, but considering UKIP wants to increase spending, I somehow doubt a tax cut is actually going to work
Interesting. Perhaps they realize that they're losing out on a ton of potential votes because people feel their policies don't go past immigration? Are they trying to change that now? If Farage says they don't want to tax minimum wage thats gonna take a small chunk of votes away from labour and perhaps give them a better hold in London and the North.

I want to see how shit the new policies will be in comparison to the old ones.

Unbelievable - Farage says something intelligent. Stop the presses, get Batman on the phone.
He also said he believed no-one earning the minimum wage or below should pay any tax on their earnings.
I'm not qualified to say anything about the economic viability of this statement but at least it makes a lot of sense on a social level
WHAT IF farage is a secret socialist
I'm not qualified to say anything about the economic viability of this statement but at least it makes a lot of sense on a social level
It'll be a complete disaster as spending on government services increases like Farage intends.
I'm not qualified to say anything about the economic viability of this statement but at least it makes a lot of sense on a social level
It's economically viable as well. Taxing the low earning households barely brings in any money.
WHAT IF farage is a secret socialist
"You have all been fooled. My first act as Prime Minister will be to sign a treaty transferring British sovereignty to Brussels, and I will also be diverting 75% of our budget towards bribing immigrants to come to Britain"
It's economically viable as well. Taxing the low earning households barely brings in any money.
In isolation, maybe, in line with UKIP's proposed spending increase, absolutely not
In isolation, maybe, in line with UKIP's proposed spending increase, absolutely not
But think of all the money we'll save by halting immigration!!! lmao
In isolation, maybe, in line with UKIP's proposed spending increase, absolutely not
I don't see how building nuclear submarines and aircraft carriers won't save the British economy, typical lefty..... [editline]1st June 2014[/editline] ..

[editline]1st June 2014[/editline] ..
UKIP will quite possibly scrap that policy too, all of that is taken from the 2010 manifesto which was written in a brief time when Farage resigned as leader before returning. We don't know what their 2015 policies will be
Buh-B-But Britannia rules the waves...
God Save the King [editline]1st June 2014[/editline] I do agree thought the UKIP will almost certainly tone down their policies. They have to keep leeching support from the established parties with actual chances.
Why can't a party change its policies and opinions? Labour and Conservatives do it regularly. Unless you guys want the original Labour and Tory party or something.
But think of all the money we'll save by halting immigration!!! lmao
I dunno how it is in Great Britain but here in France immigration actually brings in 12.4 billion euros each year
WHAT IF farage is a secret socialist
Well, the party has moved more to the Left since his return, though that is probably just a result of their widening popularity. They've gone from "Howzat, Westminster, we're going to do well at these elections!" to "Oh criminy, we're going to do well at these elections!" Still, at least they've realised this before they came to power, unlike a certain political party...
I think many rich people just shit a brick when he said about raising their taxes, killing off the manager\supervisor classes and letting working class work tax free.
strange to think that ukip has done a 180 on this issue. albeit (in theory) for the best, i wonder if they'd keep their promises.
