Follows a group of national guard soldiers to their doom.
Those guys were told nothing and just fed into a meat grinder.

This kind of put things into a slightly new perspective for me. From what (very) little German I understand, it's quite clear some of them are genuinely fighting for their country. That they have to fight their own traitorous countrymen is just wrong.
A curious thing I noted was how diverse their uniforms were. Some wore flecktarn, some what looked like the US Navy work uniform and so on. I can't figure out if that's just stock uniforms or if they are unable to properly equip their soldiers.

If I remember correctly, Ukraine received some military equipment (Not weapons) from the US so that combined with Ukraine being consistently on the verge of bankruptcy leads to those uniform irregularities. Also being a volunteer battalion essentially means that they just buy what looks the most tacticool for them as many of them have little to no prior experience in military service. It is sort of like taking the facepunch airsoft section and putting them in a combat situation.
Rather barbaric to not just attack a medical convoy, but to attack one you gave permission to enter the battlefield to retrieve wounded and dead.

That was a grueling video to watch.

It was a breakout attempt + the medical column wasn't it?

From what I understood, the separatists allowed a medical convoy to enter the Ukrainian occupied area (which I think they said they had allowed before twice) and that's what the journalist crew hitched a ride on out of to which they were ambushed just outside of town while the actual break out attempt happened the next day (thus why they said many of the people they filed would "die tomorrow"). Unless I mixed up the order of events and keeping track of what happened.
I'm kind of tired and it was difficult for me to keep up with reading the captions.
Damn, motherfucking treacherous bastards. Makes me wish an AC-130 had been flying over the area to blow to smithereens anyone who dared to fire upon the convoy.

After some thought, I think Kiev is partially to blame for this as much as the separatists.
It's Kiev's fault for not sending reinforcements after telling a group of soldiers to go into a meatgrinder.
What kind of army doesn't send back up to occupy an area after an initial push into enemy territory? Just because you fought over it and won doesn't mean it automatically stays in your hands.

Looks as though there were Ukrainian BTR's at the head of the convoy, you can see them pass them at about 11:38 and make out a blurry Ukrainian flag painted on one of the turrets.

This convoy was for retreating back, though. They weren't being used offensively but to help get the forces out of the quagmire Kiev created.
