In case you didn't see the news this V-day weekend because you were scr... um, busy with someone you care about, here is what you missed... High winds, fog, snow and of course Black ice were all to blame. Burnout [noun] a major car crash, an insurance adjuster's worst nightmare. On a serious note, while you can't see Black ice, you have to be warned about it, because it can take your life if your not careful, whether your in a car or not, if you have boots on, that will not protect you, its called Black ice because its a thin clear, but often wide strip that clenches on the edge of the surface so barely, that you can not see, and it is deadly. Highways are the worst for this, as in the video above. In the event you feel your car losing control and you can not stop on this crap, slow down, do NOT brake hard, try to grab the handle on the ceiling of your vehicle, if driving, try to steer lightly to remain on the road, but be aware of others/things coming at you. As to prevent something fatal, whatever happens, happens, thats just how its going to have to be, but its not always. What you just saw in this video could have been a lot worse, but guess what? It wasn't, as for dealing with the feds, and that damn phone call with the adjusters afterwards, that can be a worser fate sometimes.
Of course it's in Kansas. It's one of the dumbest states. "Hey Ma, is that a car pile up ova yonder?" "Why yes it is. Should we stop movin?" "Nah Ma, I think if we go a little faster, we can jump ova those no-good-knicks."
Look at those graphics!
:ohdear: Was anyone killed or seriously injured?
Yet the bridge itself is unharmed...
Holee shit.
Kansas is the flattest state, how can you not see this shit?!
To bad they didn't have footage of it happening, it'd be cool to watch imo
They get drivers licenses at 13.
:ohdear: Was anyone killed or seriously injured?
Two minor injuries and fifty cuts and bruises.
Let's drive at a normal speed and tailgate even though there are high winds, fog, snow and low temperature which can result in black ice.
They get drivers licenses at 13.
nope, restricted permits at 14 IF you're in Kansas, this video is in Missouri [editline]11:05AM[/editline]
Let's drive at a normal speed and tailgate even though there are high winds, fog, snow and low temperature which can result in black ice.
wtf have you ever even been in KC in a snow storm
High winds, fog, snow and of course Black ice were all to blame.
I caused the crash :smug:
I live near there, this happened less than half an hour after I drove past that spot :ohdear:
wtf have you ever even been in KC in a snow storm
I haven't been in the vicinity. Vicinity meaning about 9500km. Still don't see how that would refute my point
heard about that why am i not surprised
I wonder if there is a guinness world record for biggest car pile up.
That was really close to where I live. I know a few people who could have been in that accident.
Let's drive at a normal speed and tailgate even though there are high winds, fog, snow and low temperature which can result in black ice.
Quoted for truth, the drivers around here are insane. I even see people do stupid shit like cutting others off or turning left on a red light way more often when it's snowing. Once I saw someone move into the oncoming lane to get past everyone and beat a train :geno:
Fun-fact: most of Kansas City is in Missouri. Also the part that is in Kansas is more like and industrial ghetto.
I live in Kansas, and actually was 5 minutes behind the I-435 and 87th street incident. That one was caused by a semi losing control and everyone running into it. No, Kansas is not one of the dumbest states you fuck. In fact, the locations where these took place are well developed compared to western Kansas. Also, driving at normal speed during blizzard like conditions is a sport here.
Also, driving at normal speed during blizzard like conditions is a sport here.
Actually that is quite dumb. Which is why things like this happen.
Actually that is quite dumb. Which is why things like this happen.
/sarcasm
In the event you feel your car losing control and you can not stop on this crap, slow down, do NOT brake hard, try to grab the handle on the ceiling of your vehicle
I actually recommend grabbing the steering wheel so you can regain control of your vehicle.
"Good thing they got those cement guard rails now-a-days." It's almost an understatement. Christ, imagine if those cars had spilled onto the road below...
:aaa: Holy crap.
:aaa: Holy crap.
Safe-auto?
Im suprised that the bridge is still holding all that weight up, damn those things are strong
Whoever was driving the first vehicle that caused this chaos probably had their driver's license sliced into bits on the site
