EA has released a new 'Ultimate Shortcut Bundle' for Battlefield 3 on Xbox Live Marketplace.
The DLC instantly unlocks all 119 weapons, gadgets and vehicle upgrades available in the game's multiplayer. It's yours for a whopping 3200 Microsoft Points (£27.41).
It's also available on Origin and PSN, according to Gamerzines, which points out that the DLC costs more than it does to buy the game in a lot of places.

So like is this buying power or is everything just a side-grade?
it's like mann co store all over again

Both, Some weapons are sidegrades but some of them are absolutely more powerful than the default.

Except worse
I think we have a DLC that's worse than Horse Armor.
It's so you can immediately unlock all of the weapons in the game. You usually get free access, but have to work towards them.
Think like what TF2 does.
This is stupid, and so is TF2 now imo. So trying to defend it because tf2 does it is dumb. Though if you dont care about it then I guess there is no problem.
I can see why people would buy this. I've love Battlefield games but I hate the weapon grinding.

Not so much with weapons, but let's just say that you're a nuisance to your team if you get into a tank without any vehicle unlocks. Not to mention that you had to unlock something as basic as flares for jets and helicopters prior to the latest patch. It's a despicable system.
There's nothing bad about this.
I remember a time before unlocks.
Too bad if you don't have an extensive, 40 hour long grind in your game to get a gun you want IGN and Destructoid will rate your game lower and point it out at the end of a review.
why would you buy the game and then effectively buy it again so you dont actually have to play it? its not as if getting the upgrades is a grind unless you make it your goal in games to beat it instead of having fun

Actually it supposedly takes 400 hours to unlock absolutely everything in the game.

Because some people are impatient. Or stupid with their money. Or both.
Or they genuinely don't have time but want to use endgame stuff.
You don't have to buy it, it's no worse than buying everything in the Man Co. Store which is actually more expensive.

It sucks but people work hard for their unlocks.
It's a piss off that I had so much fun getting all my unlocks, then this comes out and completely ruins the point of playing the game.
Would have gotten it if it was released on PC and at a much cheaper price. I enjoy a few BF3 matches here and then, some people just don't have the time to unlock everything (not that they don't want to)
Next up: 1$ to reload.

He covers some good points. They didn't make the purchasable unlocks available until months after release, the games pretty well balanced so it's not really an unfair advantage and if someone's new to the game you're already going to have an advantage over them as it is because you've played the game more and have a better understanding of it. No one's being forced to buy the unlocks and it's not going to effect anyone's ability to play the game who hasn't purchased them so why not?

I think we can all agree they're both stupid.

Remember when you played games to have fun instead to unlock the next weapon?
I love the weapon unlocking progression in this game... it gives you genuine targets to work through rather than just seeing your rank go from 40 to 41, to 42 etc.
It's not like the opening weapons are massively under-powered - they're all competitive enough.
The only "genuine" use I can see for this is for people who want to have a character with superb stats so they do this to unlock their favourite weaponset straight from level 1.
But anyone who is stupid enough to spend £27 on BF3 unlocks probably has them all by now anyway.
Ridiculous. I spent less money on the game itself than this. But whoever is dumb enough to purchase it doesn't deserve to hold money.
This is actually good if you want to catch up and don't want to do the weapon grinding that people who have been playing BF3 for months by now have been doing. Some of the weapons are way better than the default guns, giving new players a huge disadvantage.

Or someone doesn't have that much time to unlock everything but still wants to use high-tier weapons
"ultimate shortcut" ahahahah
its like they're going all out for the rich 12 year old market

I stopped playing BC2 after buying it in steam sale, because it took forever to get a more decent weapons. Id buy this if I had BF3. I absolutely despise unlocks. I don't have the time to play with a certain weapon forever to unlock a slighly less shitty one.
Holy shit! This isn't the first time a shortcut DLC has been released, but I don't recall one ever costing THAT MUCH! Most of the shortcut type DLCs are like $5 or something pricy but still reasonable.
