Police said they are all being treated at local hospitals.
Six ambulances and six fire engines are at the M&D's park near Strathclyde Park in Motherwell after being called at 15:37.
A number of specialist officers are also at the park, which has been evacuated.

Just hearing about this; M&Ds is not far from where I live.
I hope there's no fatalities.
Isn't this the second rollercoaster incident in the UK this year already?
m&d's always was a heap of shit, folk always had stories of it falling to bits
Fucking hell it's said the carriages came off and plummeted 30ft

Oh god my fucking nightmares incarnate. At least no one was mortally hurt.
Also the mind fuck too for those who literally just got off it then the next train goes off the track completely. That would be screwing with me for a minute.
I don't know anything about M&D's but Pinfari rides are known to be sketchy as fuck.
An entire wheel assembly separated from the train:

Looks like it derailed at the bottom of the first drop. One of the support beams is literally bent:

Jesus christ, I used to go there all the time
This is my biggest fear when on those rollercoasters, aside from the height itself (I'm afraid of heights). Hope nobody died. :(
i remember going there young and being worried that the rides were manufactured in west germany lol
The coaster was created by Pinfari and they went bankrupt soon after this coaster was build which gave them very limited support for when the coaster was malfunctioning. Though that was back in 2004 already so i guess they found another manufacturer.

Yeah, I simply cannot get myself to ride on rollercoasters (specifically the ones where you go upside down) because I'm always afraid that the thing would break, even though it's extremely unlikely.
The fact that a woman mentioned the weather makes me wonder if wind and or rain meant it was going too fast. Mr kotov, what was the weather like?
They really should get some form of QA program for giant chunks of metal meant to hurl around constantly at 50+mph.

How fast it was going wouldn't really have anything to do with it. Roller coaster carts have up-stop wheels that run beneath the rails to prevent them from flying off the track at high speeds or with low friction. What happened as far as I can tell is that the entire wheel assembly flat-out broke for some reason.

At most that would just mean a faster ride due to less friction between the wheels and track. It might be a tad bit rougher but that should be completely within limits. As reference 'The big one' is literally at the seaside in Blackpool and that was the tallest coaster in the world at one point. Point is that it should have done nothing if properly maintained.
This looks to be a case of serious neglect of maintaining the coaster train considering the above photo of the wheel assembly that has flat out gone off the train.
This is going to be an interesting case, it's rare coaster accidents happen like this.
But I do hope that everyone is alright though, this could have been a lot worse.
I'm surprised.
Surprised that this didn't happen sooner, fuck m&D's. GF's dad used to work as a surveyor and said their Inspections barely passed health & safety.

I mean look at that wheel assembly for crying out loud, it's rusted to fuck and back and the wheels don't look too great. Would be interesting to see how frequent and thorough maintenance was on that thing
I drive boom lifts and scissor lifts all the time, spanning 45ft and up but for some reason I cannot get myself to get on a roller coaster. I just NOPE every time
