WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The Republican-led U.S. Senate approved sweeping tax legislation in the pre-dawn hours of Wednesday, sending the tax cut package back to the House of Representatives for a final vote later in the day.
source but there's nothing else in there other than this text. I'm going into the vfx industry, and this is absolutely fucked. a lot of my friends are losing the ability to write-off the majority of their expenses (in some cases, certain friends will be paying TWICE as much as normal), and it doesnt just stop at artists either. Actors, musicians, so many people in this town are gonna be fucked over by this when the hollywood industry is already getting harder and harder to exist in
I thought the House had to revote on it because they fucked up with a few provisions that broke Senate rules?

This bill is a nightmare in every sense of the word. It originally had much deeper cuts but those were all scrapped in favor of more business tax cuts, and this shit goes into effect in not years, not months, but weeks. How the American people will react to this, I don't know. The cuts are deep for the rich and shallow for the poor, and decent for the middle class (however, keep in mind this isn't permanent and will balloon our debt in the meantime). If the American people are truly as stupid as I fear, they'll react joyously to this short term gain that will fuck over our country in the long run, which is why the Republicans are trying to force this through now so they have a chance in 2018. However, I don't see it working out nearly as well for them as I'm sure they hope, this bill absolutely fucks the upper-middle class by taking out a ton of deductibles among others - rendering their gain minute, perhaps even a loss - which is a huge issue considering they are a significant voting block. Between all this, and the gigantic give-away to the poor at our country's expense, I can only hope this blows up in the Republican's faces as a historic loss in 2018. God Bless America, may these vile bastards get ousted, and the damage they've caused undone.

Funfact thanks to republicans slashing the IRS budget in retaliation to the tea party not being able to fill out one fucking form correctly and trump never naming a new director, they are totally fucked and have to write the actual text of the rules put forth by this horrible bill...in two weeks. They have 18 months to retroactively rewrite much of the corporate tax code With a government shutdown And a holiday. Merry xmas everyone at the irs, don't try to open the 5th floor windows they're nailed shut.
Watch as the repercussions are felt when the Dems are in the majority so they will take the blame a la Obama in 2008
if you pay attention to the way the gop has been structuring most of the bills they're trying to pass, the vast majority of them have a positive effect that then turns into a net negative, conveniently around the time a democrat president / govt would be in place The republicans have been doing this for so long it's a wonder more people don't see it for what it is
Bills like this kill Americans.
Bills like this kill Americans.
I think we can skip the middleman and say Republicans kill Americans at this point. Democrats are bad, but at least they're not actively trying to murder anyone.

Trump will be in a cell by 2019, and a blue wave will eradicate the Republican majority in both houses. Any multi-year plan is doomed to fail. So, the GOP is trying to ram through as much shady legislation as possible with what limited time they have. They're looking the house while the owners are on vacation.

What's worse for the gop, having a year with majorities in both houses but not passing any large bills, or the only major bill passed being a tax change only like 37% of people support, and being passed in late december. edit: fixed spelling
I read through it a bit, and look like they just shafted people who itemize, and threw a bone to those that take the standard deduction. Looks like they're trying to appeal to their poor and uneducated voter base that will praise this because most of them would not itemize and would see short term gain. Then, they can blame long-term problems on the Dems. If you read the Obamacare section, it pretty much says "we will save money by making sure less poor people have health insurance." Fucking sickening.
"We need a number to plug this hole!" "Lets say we can make 7 billion by drilling in an arctic nature preserve." "Brilliant!"
Watch as the repercussions are felt when the Dems are in the majority so they will take the blame a la Obama in 2008
The only reason there were repercussions once Obama was elected was because the heart of America is disgustingly racist. Do you not remember the dialog that happened by Republicans during that time?
