He is being flown to Fort Leavenworth, in Kansas, from Kuwait. His lawyer, John Henry Browne, said on Thursday that the suspect was a 38-year-old man who had been injured twice while serving in Iraq. He also said the accused had witnessed his friend's leg blown off the day before the killings. That incident has not been confirmed by the US Army. The Taliban called off peace talks in the wake of Sunday's deadly rampage - in which men, women and children were shot and killed at close range. The US has stressed it remained committed to Afghan reconciliation. Afghan President Hamid Karzai has also reacted angrily to the killings. He told the US it must pull back its troops from village areas and allow Afghan security forces to take the lead in an effort to reduce civilian deaths. On Friday he said the US was not fully co-operating with a probe into the killings.
[editline]16th March 2012[/editline] And here he is
I thought there was more then one shooter.?
I thought there was more then one shooter.?
Eyewitness says more than one, but the official report says one, and the base security cameras confirm only one person leaving.
Its bad, but its also understandable with all the shit that goes on there, it can really get to you; you don't know who will decide to whip out an AK And start shooting at your platoon.
He should be admitted to a psycatric ward, be observed, evaluated and released. He just could not take the bloodshed on his side anymore. Cant blame him.
He should be admitted to a psycatric ward, be observed, evaluated and released. He just could not take the bloodshed on his side anymore. Cant blame him.
I would recommend 50 or atleast 60 years in the psychiatric ward before release.
still doesn't excuse it
Understandable =/= excusable. [editline]17th March 2012[/editline]
I would recommend 50 or atleast 60 years in the psychiatric ward before release.
Might as well just kill him then.
Understandable =/= excusable. [editline]17th March 2012[/editline] Might as well just kill him then.
What would be the point of that? Sure, he killed alot of people and some of the worst people in the Holocaust got only 10 years at the Nuremberg Trials. I would much rather for him to see the International Criminal Court in the Netherlands and face a international military tribunal because it needs to be a international ruling or Al Qaeda will think "hmm USA let that guy off too easy... lets blow up some buildings".
This guy pretty much has to be punished harshly in order to repair relations with Afghanistan. Does not matter what the standard procedure is for when soldiers snap.
PTSD is nasty shit. None of you understand it. Actually let me go more into this. When someone witnesses people they deeply care about get mutilated by explosions, maimed by shrapnel, shot by snipers, etc. You break. You mentally breakdown and can not think rationally. I blame his CO for this and think he should be punished.
still doesn't excuse it
PTSD can mess you up. My grandpa had it.
What ever happened to that article claiming there were multiple eye witnesses that saw a troop of soldiers enter the village?

The full weight of the UCMJ is going to crash down on him.
except from eyewitness reports, it was a bunch of drunk bastards who came in and just shot the place up i believe them far more than the official reports really
Why what if they are biased aswell?
except from eyewitness reports, it was a bunch of drunk bastards who came in and just shot the place up i believe them far more than the official reports really
Why? There is no proof of multiple shooters. Hell I think the soldiers who saw him leave where Afghans themselves.
He should serve his time in an asylum instead of a prison. Heck aren't many other country's prisons allot more like rehabilitation centers anyways?
Eyewitness says more than one, but the official report says one, and the base security cameras confirm only one person leaving.
We don't know every single detail of what the situation looked like so we may never know.. There was supposedly more footage which wasn't shown from the US investigators according to afghan authorities. But I'd wait for the rest of the story to unfold before concluding that it was just the one shooter.
PTSD can mess you up. My grandpa had it.
My brother has it, and he's in his 20's.
What ever happened to that article claiming there were multiple eye witnesses that saw a troop of soldiers enter the village?
There was a search party that entered the village to look for the shooter, it's likely that the villagers thought they were somehow with the shooter.
Agreed, this is a lesson for the unprofessional american military. Do not give guns to psychopaths.
So the entire American military is composed of just one individual who murdered a bunch of civilians? Please tell me more.

Whoever cleared him for active duty is probably going to be in some hot water too
hentai anime avatar thing name is cumlord joined this month 4 posts bashing united states trole
You're just being touchy. Edit: But seriously. It is the american military and occasionally the british who do this. There is a problem here somewhere.
yea being where we shouldnt
Cant blame him.
Of course I can. [editline]17th March 2012[/editline] I blame Robert Bales for killing 16 innocent people. [editline]17th March 2012[/editline] see that was pretty easy
yea being where we shouldnt
The US military should have learned a lesson in this after the British dealt with things like the Amritsar Massacre, and even after the US's My Lai Massacre. It's like these things just keep happening every so often.
I too, blame Robert Bales for murdering 16 innocent people and destroying what trust we had left in the people, and putting countless other innocent lives in danger from revenge killings.
He should be admitted to a psycatric ward, be observed, evaluated and released. He just could not take the bloodshed on his side anymore. Cant blame him.
No, you CAN blame him. It's not easy but he's expected to be able to handle that shit, and get a psych eval whenever he thinks he can't take combat anymore, he shouldn't have massacred civilians.
