Why is saying the gameplay I saw in the video looks terrible stupid? It looks like another generic third person action game, like all the others that have come before it, just with even less originality.

what gameplay
The series is supposed to be about exploration and discovery, the federation are first and foremost pacifistic in nature and entirely peaceful, but this is just them shooting everyone in sight. What does this have to do with Star Trek, if you replaced the characters you'd have no other clue that this had anything to do with the series. Yes I know it's based on JJ Abrams re imagining of the series, but his movie took place over a long stretch of time therefore the nature of the action was excusable given the amount of huge events occurring during the time span of the movie, and because the action scenes would only really work in movie format, making a movie delivering the theme of exploration is extremely hard (for a game not so much). Here it's literally just a total 180 on what Star Trek is about.
Are developers imaginations this vapid, the amount of possibilities for a open-ended space exploration game are astronomical and all they can pull out their ass is a rehash of what appears to be Gears Of War and Mass Effect. I suppose I should reserve my opinion until the product is released but this appears to be nothing more then a cash cow product.
