• Anxious about going to the gym

I know I may not be the only one with this problem, but everytime I gain the motivation to visit the gym, I get this serious hit of anxiousness, which then stops me from going. It's the same with boxing. Is there anyway to overcome this? :(
happens to everyone, you gotta remember that people are only there for themselves and not there to look at you. theres all shapes and sizes in the gym and can guarantee you there's gonna be people there who are in worse shape than you are
Go with a mate
What is making you anxious?
Like Ryz0 said. You'll just have to suck it up and go man, everyone was in the same position as you, and some worse! You will be fine, just concentrate on yourself and how you can overcome your anxiety by just jumping in and doing what needs to be done. It's gonna be difficult, but you just need to push past your blocks.
If anyone looks at you funny, tell them you'll smack them up and proceed to lift an entire 1kg dumbbell with one hand to prove how fucking serious you are.
The easiest way to overcome anxiety is to force it out of you. I've suffered severe anxiety since I can remember, and just doing things is the only way to get over it. I know it's easier said than done but good luck.
...And there are the types of gyms where people go just to show off and laugh at others....sad but true.
nope, not true. that's retarded
...And there are the types of gyms where people go just to show off and laugh at others....sad but true.
sounds to me like you're paranoid and think people are doing that shit
Get a home gym.
nop, not paranoid, a friend told me how the gym in my city works... I dont know how other places are....
Your friend sounds like a huge chode, don't listen to him and experience things for yourself.
Just think about how you can prove em all wrong
People don't show off at gyms I don't get it, like if someones lifting insanely heavier then you can how is he showing off if that's what he needs to do because he has lifted for years and worked towards that? Also the only time I see people looking and laughing at others are when I do barbell lunges at the gym people with chicken legs stare at me confused at what I'm doing. When I do farmers walks people look at me confused and I see people laugh and look at people who go nuts on the punching bag, people who would be able to knock their ass out in a second. The peolpe usually laughing are people who bring friends with them to the gym and mainly fool around with them, are skinny/weak and barely come any ways. Yeah people who laugh are never even serious or dedicated as I see, don't worry about losers like that, you'll easily surpass them in the gym.
The people that laugh are the same people that let their ego get in the way of them working hard and breaking a sweat
lmao i show off all the time when I can, not overtly ,but i do. Like if some fuck is struggling to deadlift 225, i'll decide that i want to do clean and jerks that day and do 300+lbs.

When you're doing something basic and some buffed up guy comes next to you and starts doing the same thing and adds the weigts... What an asshole.
Yeah that... When you're doing something basic and some buffed up guy comes next to you and starts doing the same thing and adds the weigts... What an asshole.
Because lifting the amount of weight appropriate to his needs makes him an asshole Sounds like you're bringing your ego into the gym with you, my honest advice is to check it at the door and get it when you leave
Using the weights that are suitable to your needs doesn't make you an asshole. Spontaneously deciding to do the same thing that some guy was struggling with, with more weight, for the sole purpose of showing off is kind of dickish however.
lmao i was trying to be funny. sorry you weak fucks.
Definitely an ego problem when you get jelly over people lifting more than you. I mean fuck when I see my buddies lift more than me it motivates me. I don't weigh close to them to begin with, so they will pretty much always be stronger than me anyway. When I see someone do more weight than me on the same lift I'm doing, it makes me think the weight I'm doing is possible. Stay humble you fucks.

Then I started lifting much more than he does and now it's actually kinda shit because I don't have anyone to try and catch up to, THE TOP IS LONELY GUYS ALWAYS FIND SOMEONE BETTER THAN YOURSELF then you aim for him!!!

People actually get jealous when they see others lift more than them? What is this shit. I admire people who lift more than me when I go to a gym.
When people lift more than me at my gym I ask them what they are doing in my shed can you please go im calling the police
If you understood the first thing about lifting, then you wouldn't be embarassed.
