It's what we've all been waiting for - It's once again time for the annual Eurovision Song Contest where most European countries come together and celebrate a festival of completely predictable ballads, cheesy balkanpop and just ridiculously shallow lyrics. This year it will be hosted in Düsseldorf, Germany after Lena's victory with her song "Like a Satellite" - She will also be defending her title this year with a new song, which is a novelty for the ESC.
Let's have a look at the countries and their contestants. I thought media tagging every song would have been kind of tedious and clogging up the OP i'll instead link you to this nice YouTube playlist containing all the songs:

Just like the previous years, this is supposed to be a small reminder and piece of information on the glorious ESC. This thread can and probably will be used as discussion while the show is going on.

I love this time of year, get drunk and argue/laugh about countries.
I wonder what song Britain has pulled out of it's ass this year.

Not too bad IMO
ah great, I can't see the semi finals but I'll definitely watch the finals
The best countries are the ones that don't take it seriously.
I will watch it again when terry wogan starts commentating again.
Blue? We've revived a '90s pop band for Eurovision?

They formed just after 2000, looks like we're in safe hands, right?

RIGHT?
Portugal's entry just goes to show how much we give a shit about this kind of stuff.
Last time Ireland sent a turkey.

Hopefully we get to see Rémi Gaillard crashing the concert again.
Well fuck, couldn't find the old video.
They take this contest way too seriously in here, Azerbaijan.

Also Azerbaijanian singer is called "Nigar" lol

Song is just lame

I remember when britain took this contest seriously
well actually, personally I don't, that was long before my time.
Britain's will be as bad as always.
Going through them at first glance, Iceland's really stands out to me.
I heard one of the singers participating is a transsexual?
:/ Why do we, The Netherlands, always sent crappy songs although this is a better one than past year ..

Wait that was Remi?
Oh god, Eurovision is hilarious every year which is why I watch it. I feel really sorry for Ireland though, who thought Jedward would be a good idea?
I remember Ireland hosted this like 6 times in a row and went bankrupt. :v:
I can never understand why Israel is in this contest. Someone sucks at geography
I remember last year they had this awesome kid doing parkour but they muted the sound and got some choir to do all the sound effects, it was so fucking awesome

I never even knew that was a finnish song holy shit.
We're not gonna win though.

Also, every goddamn year I pray France would send Justice, but they never do :saddowns:

Norway's contribution is fucking shitty

Hence the turkey puppet and the pair of turkeys this year. They're desperate not to win.
Best thing to ever come out of anything somewhat related to the Eurovision song contest was this:
Norway's contribution is fucking shitty
We live in Norway... Unless we send in Madcon or something we are most surely going to be grumpy about the entries every year (yes, that includes Rybak).
[sp]Rybak was a massive plague, playing goddamn EVERYWHERE at ANY TIME![/sp]

I love that episode.
The great thing is, everybody laughed at the concept of them purposefully picking the worst song to represent Ireland in Eurovision, to destroy any chance of them having to host it the next year.
A few years later:

Graham Linehan saw it coming...
