Right now I'm 16 years old and 5 foot 6 tall. I'm pretty sure it's due to my ethnicity (I'm southern European, specifially Maltese, so that height is actually average for the country) but since I live in Australia, it's pretty short over here. I haven't grown at all in the past 6 months at least, so I'm pretty sure I'm not going to grow anymore, but I hate being this short compared to most others. Other than basic stretching you can do to straighten your spine and be slightly taller, is there anything reasonable I can do?
Thanks, i used to worry i was short until i read this thread. Now i feel better about myself.

i saw this on the history channel.
shits fucked up.
You stop growing at 21 (Yes you do, prick), but there is nothing you can do. I'm also short, but I'll live with it because I know not what it's like to be tall.
You've passed your growth spurts, you'll have to cope until the day you die.
I know, bleak.
Being tall isn't what it's made out to be. You go through a gangly stage, which sucks.
Also, being short isn't as bad as it's made out to be. Just enjoy life the way you are. And yeah, you stop growing at 21, though you SLOW DOWN at around 18.
Though at 16, I doubt you'll get much taller. If you get 5ft 10", consider yourself lucky.
its pretty mean.
If i got anywhere near 5ft 10" I'd be fucking jumping for joy
Stilts.
and my parents are 5'6 and 5'0" so I don't think I'm going to be getting any taller...

I'm 14 and I'm 5' 9".

Live with your height. It's who you are and complaining about it won't help.
if you hang yourself i'm pretty sure your weight will eventually cause your body to stretch a bit
You can't get any bigger than your skeleton. I suggest drinking milk and eating yogurt loads.

I doubt you'll get much taller than. It's rare when a son grows taller thing his dad.
My dad is about 6 ft 3" or so, I'm almost taller than him at 17. My mum is like 5ft 6" I think maybe less. God damn, she passed on her genes and it stunts my height. Makes me mad lol
I'm like 6 ft 2" or some shit. Believe me, it's not that great to be tall. I kinda fucked up my back by growing so much in a single year (I have light scoliosis and minor scars on my back due to it) and if you're among a shitload of small people, like, Asians for example, you'll stand out like a black guy during a KKK meeting.
I like being 6" feet tall. I'd like to be 6'1, but that ain't happening.

An yeah, no. If that would be true, how come the average lenght of a human being has been increasing since the 1900's or some shit.
It's actually quite common to grow taller than your dad.

Uhm, no. You're dumb. Your height relies primarily on two things. Your diet, and your genes. Seeing as we keep eating "healthier" we grow taller, and if your genes are decent, you'll grow to be quiet tall. I'm taller than my dad, by the time I was 16 and he's 5'11. Chances are, based on genetics, you will grow taller than your dad.

Yeah, my dads 5'9 and I'm 6ft, my brother is also 6ft, and almost all my (male at least) friends at school seem to be bragging how they have now surpassed their fathers in height stakes.
I'm 12 and 5'4". Weird.

...You're 12.
Yeah, I'm so sorry because I'm young.

Good.

Aww, he's adorable.
But on the subject of your outgrowing your father. It's by no means impossible, and you're only 16. You're still gonna grow. I knew a guy who grew to 6'7", which was WAY taller than his father.
Your height is only loosely based on the genes you receive from your parents, since the genome that causes growth is multifactorial. I mean, for Christ's sake, there are genes for your growth hormone, genes for the protein receptors on your cell membrane that signal for the release of your growth hormone, genes for bone proportion, and genes for the timing of the release of the growth hormone. Not only that, but there are also countless environmental factors.
It's almost impossible for someone to predict your maximum height without keeping you under test conditions and monitoring absolutely every thing that you do.
If height WERE only controlled by a single gene, and tall were the dominant gene, then only two heights would exist. Tall and small. I mean, even if height were incompletely dominant, that is, being heterozygous blended the two other phenotypes, only tall, medium and small would be possible.
Tl;Dr, stop complaining. You still have the potential to grow.

Tie 5-10 brick to your legs, and then jump off your supporting object. This process could help elongate your legs and torso slightly.
I'm Irish, 16 and 6 foot 4, I used to hate being tall because I stood out too much, but now I quite like it.
Seriously, though, just start eating a different diet, you need more protein and calcium.
I am a midget.
