Well, I ve seen a lot of your woork here in the forum guys, and kinda you inspirated me to work on things like in this thread:http://www.facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=924115 However I d like to know some basic things. On which program should I start? What can I basically achieve with this programs? Will I be able to make models for Garry´s Mod? And questions like that.. I know they are shitty questions, but I ve always had passion for drawing and designing stuff. So please, be nice, dont noob me just for asking. Thank you ;)
I'd recommend starting on 3ds Max or Maya. I personally use 3ds Max 2011. And yes, both programs can be used to make models for source games.
Well, thank you. Complicated to learn? Estimated HD space?
Why did you use a ` instead of a ' for your apostrophe on "Garry's Mod"? This character you used, called the grave accent, isn't supposed to used to show possession, it actually isn't used in grammar at all. Please next time use correct punctuation and it won't upset me so much. (User was banned for this post ("Why Reply" - daijitsu))

Thank you all. And Mr Affinity... Hope you´re kidding. Besides dont have an american keyboard cos´ I´m from argentina. And if this´´´´´´´´ upsets you, then don´t read it. Being dumb and not polite with people + desconsiderate makes me upset too.
I'd suggest 3DSMax over Maya, it has more tutorials [editline]05:45PM[/editline] And is used for tons of stuff whereas Maya is more video stuff...
I don't have american keyboard either and I got both ` and '

Both 3ds and Maya are great if you know what you are doing. 3ds has fool-proof tools, where Maya has TONS of tools, on the other hand, but are not fool-proof.
I might suggest that link to the 'beginners guy to modeling' thread be placed in the 3d Art thread's OP, if anything. I personally use 3DS Max, have been since version 2.5. Specialize in Mental Ray rendering, need to figure out the Maya side of M.R. for sake of our user's group in Chicago.
3ds max
I might get in trouble for giving a useful answer too many times but... You can model anything, easily, for free and have your models in any Source engine game. I won't go into the small details on how to do it but the combination I use is: 3DS Max free student 3 year trial, Wallworm model tools for 3DS max, addons required by the Wallworm model tools (listed in wallworm, so is a tutorial on how to use wallworm) any model (or models when you are working with QCs) Gui studio model compiler, Notepad ++ for editing QC files and GIMP for editing .tgas to go to vtfedit to be assigned to a location for your final .mdl. There are a lot of tutorials on the internet explaining how, they may all seem a bit extreme and make the process look difficult but it usually turns out only half of what they say is really valid useful information :]
To Ceiling Pie modelling is not easy, A mapper who suddenly wants to go * O I want to model * wont have it down for a long time unless you copy a whole tutorial and say * Look what I did* It takes alot of time and effort to make something different and not follow the crowd , Its easy to copy something from start to finish but its hard to model something different.
