So I picked up some new equipment today, got a pair of ATH-M50 headphones, and a Scarlett 2i2 interface, and I'm really happy with the difference in quality of the sound I'm able to get out of it. I just finished up this song using it, recorded vocals and acoustic guitar with the 2i2, and then the bass and drums are from Fruity Loops... wanted to see what you guys thought.

The one part of the song I don't get is why you'd want to go north instead of staying with the palm trees and 80 degree breeze, they're pretty damn nice
Damn fine choice on the headphones.

Hah, well that was kind of the joke/premise that I started building on when I was writing it. Basically (and don't get me wrong, born/lived in California, but now I live in Kansas and MISS the fucking beach!), you know, everyone wants to go where the warm air is and the ocean, but the joke is that we'll go up north where it's cold and snow, where there are fewer people, and be together alone.

Thanks! I was looking at ones that were for what I budgeted, and all the reviews on it were amazing. Plus the other video that got me was when someone reviewed it against the Dre Beats Pro, and the fact that they thought the sound quality was higher? (Guy at the store said the same thing too)... and that's what got me. They're so comfortable too... I wore them most of the time I was working on this mix, and it didn't bother me at all. I couldn't recommend these enough for really anybody who wants a good pair of headphones for anything, even if it is just to listen to music.
I've been looking for an affordable interface, and wow that's affordable. What mics are you using ?
Oh yeah... The interface is REAL nice. Focusrite is known for their pre's which is why I chose that over the others in the same price range (I kinda wanted the Saffire 6, but I didn't need as many of the outs that it has.)
I'm using a Sterling Audio ST59 (Guitar Center Brand)... I got it like a couple years ago... and it's the only mic I have, and it's been really great. In my recording arts class at school a few semesters ago, we had a mic "shootout". Brought a singer in, and everybody brought their mics from home. We had the singer sing the same line dry through all the mics, and we solo'd through each track sitting in front of the board and chose the best "track" (not knowing which were which mics so we weren't biased), and we all ended up choosing mine.
So basically, I've had some luck!
But yeah, I really like the Scarlett. It's sexy too... it's got a nice red metallic case, and it's not huge either. Very small, and takes up less room.

edit 2: Also, I recorded both the vocals AND the acoustic guitar with the ST59. I placed the mic just like about 8in pointed right where the neck meets the sound hole.
