I'm hoping to start a series where I go about comparing video games that were released both on the Super Nintendo and the Sega Genesis, noting the differences and in the end judging both versions to see which one I personally enjoyed more. Along with this, I'm going to heavily encourage any viewers to either try the games for themselves and cast their votes based on that, or even just from the gameplay/footage used in the video, eventually tallying up the scores and creating somewhat of a contest between the SNES and Genesis as the two leading 16-bit consoles of the time. Feel free to post your votes here as well, I will also be taking requests, however I only plan on using games that differ between the two versions a certain amount. There are many nearly identical ports between the consoles, but there are also plenty that use the advantages of the specific console to create a different experience.
In this first video I am comparing ALIEN 3, which was released on both consoles to tie-in with the movie release. Both are pretty mediocre games, but the Genesis version was definitely more of a challenge as well as a more arcade experience, whereas the SNES version was a more cinematic approach with less emphasis on smooth gameplay. Also, the Genesis version has pretty awesome music, I almost enjoyed the soundtrack more than the actual game.
Hope you like it, I will be posting more of these in the weeks to come, the quality of this series will improve over time as I learn more in terms of video-editing and planning, think of this as more of a 'Pilot' episode that just entails the basic idea of the series.
Any and ALL views expressed via text or video are just my personal opinions, I heavily encourage the debating of my review/video/anything!

I wouldn't necessarily call that begging, but I removed any mention of subscribing in the OP.
The only reason I even mention subscribing is because I hope for this to become a series, and people might like to be informed of new episodes, I'm more interested in hearing opinions and votes on the games than anything else.
I'd rather be playing to the Genesis's more catchy songs rather than the SNES's slow moving more "atmospheric" songs. The SNES's OST is less memorable like an action movie's OST. Movie OSTs fill the scene to steer the scene in whatever emotion it is trying to convey. The Genesis's OST, on the other hand, is generally more exciting and pumps one up while playing the game.

What are the songs that you use in your intro and outro out of curiosity? They sound nice.
I agree, the Genesis soundtrack had a very 80's rock vibe and the overall sound is much more entertaining, I particularly like the bass.
The intro song is the main title song from the Gameboy Color game, "Revelations: Demon Slayer", and the outro song is the main title song from "Rockman World" on the Gameboy, (The japanese version of Mega Man on the GB, not sure if it differs at all from the U/E releases). The reason they are used is because a few days prior to making this video I was collecting music from Gameboy/Gameboy Color games for review, and I ended up finding quite a few nice tracks, something about Gameboy music is just cool to me for some reason.
Are you just limiting the series to Mega Drive vs. Snes or will you compare more platforms? (IE: Castlevania Bloodlines was released on Snes and Turbographix)

Sorry to be Mr. Gaming Know-It-All here, but Bloodlines was released on the Genesis, not SNES.

You're definitely right. I meant Dracula X.
I dont know why hes getting dumbs. Hes just doing a fun comparison video from each console. Although you should do side-by-side comparison instead of 5 min each. And maybe a little bit info on how the controls feel.

Thanks for the support, as I said in the OP this is purely just sort of a pilot episode to see what I should and shouldn't do in terms of the format, the only reason I didn't do them side by side is due to the fact that the music/sound wouldn't be able to be played simultaneously so I'd have to figure out a workaround for that.
I was actually considering doing both games side by side, comparing each specific thing at a time, (IE Gameplay, graphics, etc.), the only thing that would need to be done separately is the sound/music review, as most games that are on both Genesis and SNES have wildly different soundtracks and putting one in the left speaker and the other in the right would probably just sound like a garbled mess most of the time.
As for the Turbographix, maybe at some point in the future I'll make more comparisons between other consoles, (I think a PS1 vs. N64 might be fun), but for now I think I'll stick with SNES and Genesis at least until I work the format out. Again this was really more of an idea that I started working on for the fun of it and ended up wanting to make an actual series out of it, I definitely plan on improving the quality with each comparison video and I'm always looking for feedback. Also, requests are very welcome, I've already got a few games planned out so far, (Joe & Mac, Revolution X), but there are so many games shared between the two consoles so if anyone has any requests I'll be sure to look into them.
SNES had the best atmosphere in my opinion. I enjoyed listening to the soundtrack for it.
SNES had the best atmosphere in my opinion. I enjoyed listening to the soundtrack for it.
No doubt, I feel the developers of the SNES port were more concerned about making a movie-game that actually used the movies plot than just another random action game with a movie's title slapped on it, the cinematics, soundtrack, and even just the level design is much much more atmospheric and in-tone with the film. I like the game and it's playable, but the atmosphere alone wasn't enough for me to really enjoy it to the full extent that I did with the Genesis version, but I could really see how fans of the series and films would prefer the SNES version and praise the developers ability to keep the game similar to the film with what they had at the time.
Do Zombies Ate My Neighbors.

Interesting, I'll look into that when I've got some time, I've always played the SNES version, but I never realized they made it for the Genesis as well. Great game though, I'll have to play through on each system and note their differences because from what I can tell so far they are quite similar in both graphics and sound, but I still need to play them more and definitely do a side-by-side comparison to judge the differences and whatnot.

Reading this just got me to tap out the tune to Evening of The Undead
I'll be honest, this would've been more interesting if someone were talking, giving an overview, info, etc.
