IESB is reporting that they have the inside information from a source within Lucasfilm!
"The word from our ultra top-secret Lucasfilm insider is that Lucas has gotten the itch and is already looking ahead into launching an entirely new trilogy in that galaxy far, far away. What do we know? First of all, these new film will have nothing to do with the live action television series currently in development. That show already has over 50 scripts ready to go and plenty of pre-production time and money has been spent on artwork and storyboards. Once that show goes into production, Lucasfilm hopes to be able to produce at least 100 episodes since that is the threshold for syndication in the United States. IESB has been told fans can expect the new trilogy after the entire saga is released in 3D which is expected to be complete around 2015 or 2016. The ideal plan, according to our spy at Skywalker Ranch, is to be able to release a new Star Wars film within 24 months after the release of the last re-re-release (is that right?) of Return of the Jedi 3D." “Too early for story details but one thing that our source is certain about, they will not be prequels but instead sequels,” IESB says. “It’s not for certain if they will be the long-awaited Episodes 7, 8 and 9 but could instead be Episodes 10, 11 and 12 or possibly even further out in the Star Wars timeline. And by giving space in the timeline, possibly even as far as 100 years or 1,000 years in the Star Wars universe future, Lucas avoids having to make these stories ‘fit in’ with what the previous stories have told.”
Late and good god I hope not Just let it DIEEE
Cool. I won't be holding my breath or anything, but it's a nice thought that we might get to see some of the fantastic extended universe on the big screen eventually. It may well be crap, but I'm willing to give it the benefit of the doubt I guess
They where meaning the 3D version. And it was already announced. /thread
No. No god no! Everything Lucas has touched since 1997 has been a gigantic piece of shit, really poor writing, overuse of CG and ass-backwards casting. Remember when Star Wars was a callback to all the old Buck Rogers serials, with characters inspired by archetypal heroes and villains? Even the 1997 re-release had a lot of problems, like sticking shit everywhere in front of the action, and... Dear god this scene...
it's about solo and how he kept leia barefoot and pregnant. Pretty sure lucas and Harrison ford are directing.
They just rape it again and again..
I wish my house had a second story so I could jump off it.

And on that not I leave you with this. Oh how times have changed.
ehhhhhhhhhhh no thanks

No thank you.
I see no posted sauce, which combined with my displeasure at killing the series by milking it makes me want to believe it's fake
I think a big reason why people didn't like the new trilogy was because of the use of CGI, rather than models or puppets. Using real physical objects was a big part of movies back then, and thus has a sort of generation that loves it. However, since I was still growing up in the early 2000's, I have no problem with movies that use CGI, and thus I see both sides for what they truly are. Assholes.
Well, FUCK. Why can't we go back to good ol' days of land-speeders and incest? And Ewoks.
Return of the Jedi 3D? Return of the Jedi 3D? RETURN OF THE JEDI 3D??

Perhaps. Maybe if they did a trilogy based on one of the Star Wars games, like Force Unleashed, Knights of the Old Republic, Jedi Academy, etc. It'd work if it were done right. But let's just hope it isn't in the god-awful CGI style that Clone Wars used. Oh god let's hope it ain't.
I am kinda happy about this because I always wanted new star wars movies , Something from the comics or books please! Death Troopers!,

Noooooo!
i have no problem with them making more star wars movies if they stop using cgi and give george lucas no creative power whatsoever then im cool
I'm actually really excited for this! I'm not a huge fan of new Star Wars movies, but I have a very special spot for Star Wars in my heart. I'd like to see this happen, just... No 3-D. Please. Star Wars isn't meant for 3-D.

But if you're talking about the re-releases, then I agree with you.
I want a movie based of KOTOR and the Mandolorian wars
If there's a new movie, I think it should be shot in 3D. I mean, it'd be interesting, but if it IS shot in 3-D, they'll milk it for all it's worth.
Lucas pls go
[img_thumb]http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_ooPqud1IP6U/TFJESUjRV5I/AAAAAAAAAME/QW5oJEK9vWU/s1600/heir+to+the+empire.jpg[/img_thumb] Dear god, please let it be this.
Fuck no, all the new republic shit is... shit. Star Wars ended in Return of the Jedi. THE END. I wouldn't mind seeing some stuff about the times of the Sith Empire and the Old Republic though.
I want a movie based of KOTOR and the Mandolorian wars
Fucking this.
I'll watch it. I'm one of the people that enjoyed the prequels

It should definitely be in 3D, it's totally awesome, and if you want to see it in 2D, then presumably the cinema will be less packed in the 2D showings. Even if you don't like it, I don't see why everyone else should be denied it. Plus it totally would fit Star Wars. Imagine a proper space battle in 3D.
