.
Devil May Cry is headed to the big screen.
Variety reports that Sony's Screen Gems, the distribution outlet behind the Resident Evil film franchise, has purchased the movie rights to the Capcom game series in the hopes of starting the next big game-to-film franchise a la RE.
Screen Gems has hired Kyle Ward, who also penned the Kane & Lynch movie at Lionsgate, to write the screenplay. The video game's story follows Dante as he hacks and slashes his way through demons in his quest to avenge his mother's murder.
The first whispers of a Devil May Cry live-action feature film were made almost eight years ago when Tokyo-based film distributor Gaga Communications landed the screen right from Capcom; they had hoped to be in production by 2005.
Devil May Cry 4 Refrain for the iPhone hit stores earlier this month; you can check out our review of it here.

td;lr Dudes who made the REsident Evil Movie are making a Devil May Cry Movie
going to be fucking horrid
Probably going to base it off the new one coming up, thus enraging fans even more.
Mila Jovovich cast as Dante
There is literally no way this can be good.
Milla Jovovich as Trish
No dante involved
Finishes movie with poorly delivered "Jackpot" line
Go on Kyle Ward you know you want to fuck it in the ass this bad.
Welp, this series has just been killed off for good.
Might as well throw the script down the shitter already.
C'mon, it might be good. Give it a chance, you never know! Right? Right?
Ah, who the hell am I kidding? It'll blow.
oh nooooooooooooo
anyway, who in hollywood would play Dante?
Why bother making a movie based on a game anyway, the story's already established and won't work well without player interaction or condensed into an hour and a half.
The movie = shoot enemy in the chest for 2 hours.

This is a bad idea.

The anime didn't do too bad, they should use that as an idea. Except he should actually use his sword more often.
If Prince of Persia was a success, maybe there is hope for this movie yet?
Except Prince of Persia was dog shit.

it sold well does mean it was a good movie
it sold well does mean it was a good movie
if it sells well its because of marketing, not quality.
i thought it was a good movie maybe not the best movie in the world but certainly not the worst.
If Prince of Persia was a success, maybe there is hope for this movie yet?
Prince of Persia?
Success?
No.....
And seeing how the RE movies kept getting worse until the last that was utter shit, I have absolutely no faith in this one.
I won't say it won't be worth a watch, because even if it's six kinds of awful it'll be hilarious, but...
Devil May Cry? Stop killing it.
It's going to fucking suck.
also it's going to be 3D !
also it's going to be 3D !
So they are going to throw stuff at the screen, like they did constantly in the last RE movie?
Great.....it's gonna suck even more then.
well I made that part up but you know it's ture :( sadly yes it will suck even more
This could potentially be a really good movie.
It will turn out to be a load of shit though since these movies always seem to, I can always hope though.

There's nothing in DMC that could make it a good movie. It only works in an anime or in a game.
