This month Nerd³ has been doing a lets play of Spore! Pretty fun to watch if I do say so myself!
Part 1

Part 2

Part 4

As disappointing as I found Spore to be, this has really made we want to play it again...
I don't know how many people on FP know about Nerd³, but if you enjoyed this, go check out his other stuff! He's quite enjoyable.
Admittedly that part did seem "scripted" I suppose. He must have known that would happen. Still, it was just one joke. I can let it slide.
The rest of it is genuine.
Spore is like my Rollercoaster Tycoon. Every time I see some footage of it, it makes me want to play it again. God damn.

Now if only Spore was as fun as RCT in the long run.
The ending of part 4 feels extremely forced.
I didn't see it coming, didn't even know that was a feature :v:
The funny thing about Nerd³ is that he lives in my county. Which makes his commentary even better. (Not that my county is any good.)
Edit: Apparenlty, I'm dumb for stating that he lives near me. I do not get you, FP.

Sounded like he recorded it after. The timing was off.
Also, you can't always sound natural in LP's.
Spore was only really fun at the space stage
I hated the space stage. It was the one I looked forward to the most, until I learned that I am the sole intelligent life in the entire goddamn galaxy.
Go here, set up colony, ally is beign attacked, okay, fend off attack, talk to attackers, "soz bro we'll stop if you SURRENDER ALL YOU OWN FDASJNFDASKAS", kill attackers, galactic sanctions for being mean to the invaders, ignore, same assholes who gave you the sanctions cry and bitch and moan when someone else attacks them because they can't fucking defend themselves.
ON AND ON AND ON AND ON WELCOME TO SPACE

Space stage sucked total balls, I liked every stage up until the civilization stage. But in space stage all you do is defend from the endless onslaught of pirates (which is worse if you own a large amount of planets), receive death threats from shithead aliens or wussy allies begging for help, and buying spice low and selling high just to buy a new laser beam.
I really wished the expanded more on the earlier stages, they were a lot more fun. Also it sucks that you never get to control your species again in the space stage unless you get the dlc.

questing for Earth was cool until it occurred to me that I'd have to listen to "HELPHELPHELPHELPHELPHELPHELPHELPHELPHELPHELPHELPHELPHELPHELPHELPHELPHELPHELPHELPHELPHELPHELPHELPHELPHELPHELPHELPHELPHELPHELPHELPHELPHELPHELP" the entire way there AND back. I got to earth, set up a colony, streaked to the center of the galaxy and then quit.
God, the Civilization stage was awful. It was the shittiest RTS I've ever played.
Creature stage all day erry day.
guess what i reintstalled
Spore is a bunch of really simple but fun asset creators tied to five mediocre-to-awful clones of other games.
Once you get a mod that removes the annoying constant whining from your colonies and homeworld ("help we are getting attacked by 5 pirate ships that we can't destroy even though we are the home planet of the most powerful civilization in the entire galaxy ! also there are 5 sick animals and we can't kill them ourselves ! you need to move your ass from the other side of the galaxy with no means of fast travel whatsoever !"), the space stage becomes drastically more playable.
There is still the bitter taste of casual behind all of it. This is not even some elitist bullcrap I'm saying right here, spore was massively dumbed down (go and see the footage from I think E3 2005), big parts of it were cut off and the game was made very much easier.

Honestly, they didn't really dumb it down like most people say. I've seen the footage and it seems they just removed some useless elements and then polished it up. It looks like the same exact game to me.
It really sucks spore got molested in the casual shape it's in now instead of the version they showed before (which was more serious, and dangerous instead of monsters always growing to the same size with you)

They scrapped out an entire phase of the game, between cell and creature stage, where you could swim around in a three dimensional underwater space. The transition from cell to water to creature was also seamless as it was all done by adding limbs, then lungs to your creature and simply going up/walking out of the water.
That and the flora editor was also let unfinished.
[editline]19th July 2012[/editline]
And you also had to actually fight your way to the top of the food chain, they didn't help you do that every single instant by giving you only weak enemies around and making things evolve with you.

You forgot Robbaz, the Kinky Viking King of Sweden.

I get that with a lot of Nerdcubed's stuff, he tries way too hard
But fuck it I watch anyway

I remember watching the tech demos of the old version... the release version simply doesn't match it at all.
