Well I do like Anime, SMT/Persona and Fire Emblem, so... I guess I gonna like it? I don't really know.
I bet though quite a few people are a little bit more shocked and/or dissappointed than I was.
It looks so weird.
I was watching the direct with friends and we were jokingly saying "is this smt x fe lol". You can imagine our reaction when they said it was.
I was hoping FE style board tactics with RPG fights featuring SMT and FE characters. I mean, this doesn't look bad but it's certainly strange.

I'm disappointed that they didn't show a single demon, not even Jack Frost. Looks like they're fighting things like Shadows from Persona instead

I get the sense it will probably be fine as its own game but it really does not feel like SMT or FE at all, besides maybe looking vaguely like persona

well to be fair, this game is called Genei Ibunroku#FE. traditionally, Any SMT spin off was titles Ibunroku; such as Megami Ibunroku Persona. Plus it had that horse thing from Fire Emblem. I cant even tell the difference!

Even still, there's not even a demon design or anything to connect to
besides vaguely looking a bit like persona it doesnt really hit the megami ibunkoru thing
it doesn't help that the original teaser trailer had characters from the mainline games in it, so i imagine thats what's really confusing me and everyone else

It seems to translate to 'Illusory Revelations', meaning the actual Shin Megami Tensei part of the title was dropped and it seems to only tangentially be related to things to focus more on the Fire Emblem x animu real life idea (Since Persona and 'Illusory' both share Revelations with their first titles, I guess that explains the high school factors).
I guess they couldn't think of a satisfactory crossover so they redid it from the ground up and ditched the main part of the crossover idea entirely.

So, what does it have to do with FE? Is it set far in the FE future? Is there a link between worlds to the FE world? Does it just have a techno-medieval aesthetic and medieval weaponry?

I saw the Atlus logo and I thought was it was going to be a new Persona or another trailer for one of the ones already announced (idk, I don't follow the series but I know Atlus makes purse owner)
Then I saw the generic anime footage and "high schoolers by day, magical warriors by night" thing and thought it was another generic anime game.
FE x SMT was the last thing I was expecting.
