I'm glad he finally got to review a VehiCROSS, especially one as unique as this (very last one to roll off the assembly line). I always wanted one of these trucks.
I like the outside a lot. It looks futuristic af, and I can't put my finger on which fictional vehicle's front the
Vehicross front resembles.
The interior is a bit of a let down. It doesn't looks on par with the exterior, but it was the early 2000's anyway.
Stuff I thought of when I was watching it:
1. In the event that the car has a rear end collision that shatters the rear glass:
oh shit, it really broke the rear window. Im so fucked
Edit:
im crying. we are gonna be poor. oh fuck oh fuck
2. Holy fuck does that panel hiding the spare wheel look janky as fuck - definitely makes it a two person job, considering how quickly that plastic thing just dropped the moment he undid the last screw.
3. He never addressed the other weird quirk of the car, that weird two toned hood - what the fuck is up with that black thing in the middle?
4. I reaaly want to see the quality of a backup cam fitted to this car that came as OEM for the Japanese variants. For reasons why, remember that YouTube wasn't even around when this car had a camera, so we're talking, like, 144p, basically a potato. Being shown on a digital screen, inside the car and one of the first of its kind. After I watched this video I scoured the internet to see if I could find any video examples of this example, but failed. :frown:
5. Isuzu made pretty good SUV's - when I was growing up, Isuzu Troopers, Nissan Patrols and Toyota Landcruisers were the norm for desert travel and having a little bit of fun going wadi-bashing. Kinda bummed to realize how long it's been since Isuzu's been in that space.
I fuckin' love the interior. Red/black leather is my favorite color combo for interiors, especially BMW's Imola Red.
The interior on this thing looks like it belongs in a early 90's sports car, red/black leather with carbon fiber, I like it. Other than that the car is horribly styled. It could be greatly improved by smaller wheels with larger tires, some negative caster in the rear (the wheels look like they're pushing way too far forward), and some better color options.

On the subject of the color options, Doug kinda glossed over it but that portion kinda left me baffled. This car was the last one rolled off the production line, was given a special send off one-of-a-kind color and a letter, used in some press event and then sent off to Denver Isuzu for this owner to pick up. I'd have been pretty pissed that I ordered a car in a specific color, only to end up getting some other color with the only explanation (and insult to injury) that "this was the last one ever made".
I mean, let's say you did that to someone who bought a Pontiac Aztek. If you don't know about the collectability status of the car yet, you'd be mad as all hell to find out that they even changed the color on you and the car wasn't even successful enough to merit another run. Any other vehicle that has a well known precedent for being collectors items in the future - for example, Ferraris or Lamborghinis? Sure. But an Isuzu?

I was curious so I went scouring too.

Most I could find was a pic of the main menu for the screen :s:

Interestingly, the JDM VehiCROSS had different interior materials and a very nice looking Momo steering wheel.

I love that '90s patterned vaporwave cloth look.

I love that pattern too! To be honest that interior, while not as flashy, could've made it a huge hit in NA markets if they'd kept at least one version that didn't look like it was in Doug's video. I'm kinda unsure if they had color LCD panels back then. In my head, I'm just imagining them to be some slimmed down version of those old broadcast monitors. :v:

That exterior would have gone over a lot better today with all the dopey-ass designs we have now, when the video picture came up I thought it was something from 2010+

A couple of seconds of video at around 1 minute in. Could probably find more but I only looked at the first page of results.
It reminds me of the Pontiac Aztek for some reason.
