If it was your kid's child, at a very young age, you of course would want them to believe whatever they wanted, most children are raised with Santa in civilized culture, i was... and you probably were to.
What they have done is wrong, it's not there position the tell a child that what he was believing was wrong, it's something the child has to figure out for himself, not by some asshole's telling him what to believe.

I'd rather they weren't brought up believing fairly tales, actually. I don't mind that they celebrate Christmas, and appreciate Santa Claus as a children's icon, but when you try to brainwash your children into thinking he's real and that he's always watching you and comes down your chimney on christmas eve, that's going too far.
