Don't know if anyone here still plays Red Orchestra 2 but this seems exciting. No word on a release date yet.
no actual vietcong guerrillas though. i have yet to see a vietnam wargame that has you playing as them with tons of traps and tunnels other than BF:vietnam.

VietCong.
I would play the shit out of this
Hell I loved Insurgency before it turned to shit, and this seems to be quite similar
VietCong.
God that game[and its sequels] had the best fucking soundtracks.

Oh god I want this!
it bothers me clean and 'perfect' the textures are for the m16's.
Wow that was a remarkably shit teaser.
wonder how long it'll take tripwire to hire the mod team and turn this into another 30$ expansion

Or at least a game where the Vietnamese outnumber the Americans.
Wow that was a remarkably shit teaser.
It was but all I care about is that the mod isn't dead.
I've been waiting ever since RO2 came out when this was announced.

Well, don't the weapons in RO2 start out brand spanking new like your uniforms the first time you start playing, and by the time you cap your level you look disheveled and your weapon is filthy and scuffed up? It's been a while since I played, but I remember it being like that.

Other way around.
Start off with dirty weapons, at lvl 50 they're brand new clean
That lack of music is so effective. Hopefully it's in the final game.
I guess the title fits in the sense that the trailer teased the fact that they will eventually show gameplay.
Still, I was hoping to see some gameplay in a gameplay teaser rather than swaying vegetation and reloading, but it has piqued my interest.

Fuck I wish this game still ran on my PC.
Legitimately one of the best single player experiences I've ever had - so tense.

If you are having the issue with the crash any time you get a radio message, get VCStarter. It fixes that issue and lets you play on modern PCs.

I assume they are gonna expand on the traps and tunnels left by Rising Storm, it would be stupid not to.
Wow that was a remarkably shit teaser.
How? it's the first video of of it released and shows they are working on it, its teasing the game and teaser 2 they are realising shortly with the combat.
Yeah if it was a gameplay video it would be shit but I really want to see more and the combat so as a teaser it works man, its teasing you after all for the next video with combat.
How long has they been working on this and is it ever coming out?

oh vietcong music

You're saying it like it was a bad thing.
Honestly Rising Storm would never, ever reach the fucking amazingness of it if it wasn't for that.

It's very possible that they're actually going to go for the inverse, aka start with clean weapons, end up with dirty. Wouldn't surprise me if they did.

Rising Storm wasn't even 30 bucks was it? More like 18?
[editline]28th November 2013[/editline]
And it didn't require the original RO2 to play and is just as good of a (if not better) game than RO2.

Plus for the price tag you essentially get a full copy of RO2 minus the ability to choose a class.

More like buy out the mod from under the team.
Stole the words out of my mouth though. Still hate them for what they did and how they act.

How?
You realize Tripwire did next to nothing work wise on the mod right? They bought out the mod, halted any production/progress at the time and just packaged it up as fast as possible into a stable state and stuck a $30 pricetag on it.
In the code you can see WIP stuff like: bazookas, halftracks, jeeps, tanks, etc. You can bet $30 you will NEVER see those implemented.
[editline]28th November 2013[/editline]
It's not even the pricetag that bothers me so much it is their attitude and their actions.
The main problem I have with RO2 and Rising Storm is that every map plays out pretty much exactly the same - there is no room for cool strategies and tactics it's just attacking a very specific set of objectives one after the other.

Hit a major issue on the head. RO1 maps (mods or otherwise) were large enough and well laid out enough that you could actually do interesting back and forth strategies versus the enemy team. Or at least it gave you the illusion of it. Now, what like 95% of the maps are linear rectangle shapes where you just run forward.
That's indeed something to be angry about. After all it's not like that's some unfixable engine flaw. Having a slightly different gamemode and a different approach to maps wouldn't take much effort.
Although I have to disagree with something, there' still plenty of room for strategy and tactics in both, RS and ROs's maps.

I certainly don't think there is plenty of room in really any maps, but it's not just the maps problem, just look at the commander class - he can call in artillery, recon plane and force respawn (and give orders but that's useless unless there are bots), and that's what he does and literally all he does, there is no thinking of planning or any options.
What kind of strategic variation have you observed? You put artillery on the enemy's side of the objective then use smoke grenades to push the objective, maybe a squad can flank around a side - that's all there is to it.
imagine all that grass on fire
more flamethrowers please yes please
