• Theory of Gravity Debate.

This is a debate on the fact their is a law about gravity, but their are 3+ theories that explain it, but which one is right? Some people say that the theory of gravity itself may not be a theory at all. The effection of attraction between two bodies with mass is a LAW, the reason for this on the other hand we are still investigating. The first man to make a theory related to Gravity Was Issac Newton who was the man who made the Law Of Gravity, and the space time theory can kind of link to gravity and I guess carve in a theory for it, some what? Gravity is what keeps the planets in orbit and what makes you stay on the earth and such, but the best of minds cannot give a real solid explanation of what gravity is. Since all of the details of gravity are not yet entirely understood, it is still just a theory ... certain aspects of its effects here on the surface of the earth have been considered as law because they have been observed and measured and found to be constant, but gravity itself is a mostly unknown and not yet understood force that we have only been able to theorize about. Gravity is amazing huh?
It exists [editline]01:53AM[/editline] Next.
It exists
I think the Jacob Bekenstein theory is the best imo, and the fact that their are sub atomic particles in us that pull each other together makes more sense.
There's a theory on why people debate gravity?
I don't care what the theory of it is, the point is that it makes stuff fall instead of float, that's all we need to know.
I don't care what the theory of it is, the point is that it makes stuff fall instead of float, that's all we need to know.
Explanation of why that happens can lead to new discoveries, lets see if facepunch can make a scientific discovery? :
their are sub atomic particles in us that pull each other together makes more sense.
That's the strong nuclear force, not gravity, silly.
This is a debate on the fact their is a law about gravity, but their are 3+ theories that explain it, but which one is right?
None have been dis-proven. They're all right.
None have been dis-proven. They're all right.
They are all right, but they difer. You can say that, but you are looking at the problem with a more in depth view. It would make more sense if you use the word which one is right.

I personally think that gravity is just a lie from the guvment to keep us down.
I have a theory for gravity. The dinosaurs all floated around because they had no gravity, how else would they get all around the world? So one day when all the dino's were happy with where they lived the pterodactyls built a gravity machine and put it miles under the ocean so they didn't float anymore. :tinfoil:
I don't care what the theory of it is, the point is that it makes stuff fall instead of float, that's all we need to know.
There's a lot more to it than that. Gravity is what keeps the Earth orbiting the sun.
Gravity is what keeps the Earth orbiting the sun.
Inertia is what keeps the Earth orbiting the sun.
There's a lot more to it than that. Gravity is what keeps the Earth orbiting the sun.
No, the dinosaurs made the Earth orbit.
The only existing debate regarding gravity is how to explain it using the standard model. There's a proposal for a graviton, a gravity mediating boson, but it remains undiscovered. Whoever told you gravitation is a theory probably knows little of what he's talking about. There's the Newtonian theory for gravitational movement, but Newton himself couldn't explain how gravitation actually works, and his equations do not fully explain all gravitation phenomena, so it's not a law. Einstein provided what seems to be the most logical explanation to gravitation, and that is that massive objects "bend" spacetime. Picture spacetime as a blanket, held straight ( It isn't, but still, picture it like that ). Who sinks it more, an ant, or a bowling ball? Could this force be mediated by an boson? It could, you could combine both explanations, but then again, gravitons haven't been observed and remain theoretical, and will probably remain undiscovered for an extremely long while.
This is a debate on the fact their is a law about gravity, but their are 3+ theories that explain it, but which one is right?
There's no theory which is "right"; you aren't thinking of the correct type of theory. A scientific theory isn't, by nature, more correct than the last. It only explains a broader series of things. By that, in the scientific community, people say a good theory has "beauty". In that regard, space-time is probably the most beautiful theory regarding gravity and time.
All I need to know about gravity is that when I drop something it will go down, and when I jump, I won't float to the fucking Moon.
Inertia is what keeps the Earth orbiting the sun.
Inertia is what causes objects in motion to stay in motion,
I dropped a balloon and it fell up; gravity does not exist.
I think Joey is referring to centrifugal force, instead of inertia.
Inertia is what causes objects in motion to stay in motion,
'With our powers combined,' you know the rest.
Inertia is what keeps the Earth orbiting the sun.
Eh, no. If inertia had its way we wouldn't be orbiting the sun.
Inertia is what keeps the Earth orbiting the sun.
That keeps the earths orbit in elpises ( motion?)
I think Joey is referring to centrifugal force, instead of inertia.
He'd still be wrong because he'd mean centripetal force, but in that case gravity is the centripetal force that keeps us in orbit.
I dropped a balloon and it fell up; gravity does not exist.
Things don't 'fall up'. Don't say anything about 'falling' up some stairs, either. That's tripping over a step, and the gravity takes you down.
