A thief has criticised the justice system for 'letting him down' after the victim who battered him was cleared of assault.
Unemployed Kevin Green, 53, suffered two broken legs and a broken arm when landscape gardener Andrew Woodhouse attacked him and his son-in-law as they fled his business premises.
Green and Tim Cross, 32, had stolen diesel from Mr Woodhouse's tyre yard, prompting the father-of-five to chase the pair and perform a citizen's arrest.
But Green told Emma Foster at The Sun he is the 'real' victim, adding that no one understands the pain and suffering he has been subjected to.
He said he is plagued by nightmares over the incident and is now unable to go fishing or walk his dogs after his injuries rendered him housebound.
'He went at me like a madman hitting me with a stick - all over 50 quid's worth of diesel,' he said.
'I'm the victim in all this. I don't think he realises what suffering I had to go through, which is ten times more than him.'
Mr Woodhouse, 44, has been battling a spate of crime at his company - and sprang into action when his alarm rang after midnight as the thieves were stealing diesel.
Mr Woodhouse grabbed a fence post one was carrying as a weapon - and used it to fight back against them.

No sympathy for this guy! Totally deserved it.
Claims he can no longer go fishing... LOL!
I think the atrocious thing is that the robber was only fined £75 (and no jail time) for attempting to steal £50 worth of diesel... So what does that mean? You only risk £25 when you go to steal £50 worth of goods so you might as well give it a go?
Also atrocious that the other guy faced life imprisonment if found guilty. Actually amazed that the justice system worked the way it should this time around.
When you try to steal something you forfeit any right to not having your face caved in.
You reap what you sow.
If he didn't do it in the first place... :v:
He might not be a victim but two broken legs and an arm seems a bit excessive over £50 worth of fuel
Can you honestly say he DESERVED that?

haha, he needs a few more broken bones to have all colours of the rainbow as plaster castings.
Also interesting to note that he was treated by the NHS on tax-payers money.
Probably doesn't even pay tax.

Excessive? Don't be be silly, throw in another extra broken arm and backbone and you have full service.
Sounds like the other guy just took out his anger on him, especially if he's had people stealing shit in the past.
Breaking the arms and legs of someone who stole diesel does not sound like justice to me.

Of course he did! I'm amazed he had the balls to claim to be the victim after someone defended themselves from a thief.
Doesn't matter what he was stealing, he was still stealing.
Also interesting to note that he was treated by the NHS on tax-payers money.
This crime should have voided his right to receive free treatment (unless it's life threatening OFC).
Yeah I agree I wish this monster was left on the roadside to fix his own broken bones, stealing petrol can you believe it literally worse than Hitler.

He's likely paid taxes in the course of his life, thus he is fully entitled to NHS Services. Besides the NHS will treat anyone and everyone so long as you are not violent to NHS staff, it's called treating people equally.
Also there is citizens arrest then there is breaking a man's legs and his arm. Having helped with a citizens arrest before you really don't need to use that much force, simply detain them which can be as simple a spinning them to the floor without need for ABH.
He should have been charged with assault and given a suspended sentence. Thief in this case is pretty much already penalised.
if you have to steal diesel it sounds like you can't afford to go fishing or keep those dog anyway mate

No.
Can you all please get more vindictive and sociopathic?
This is like being happy at a person becoming tetraplegic and wanting them to die just because they tried to steal a piece of bread. It's not justice, it's just cold-blooded murderous revenge.

Fifty pounds it quiet a sum of cash. Not exactly something as a father of five I would like to have to be constantly repaying because people think they should have free fuel.

Imho they were escaping and he attempted to stop them, which led to a fight, during which he got the broken limbs.

You just compared food, a vital ingredient for life, to petrol.
If he had stole bread to feed his starving family, of course it would have been mad to beat the shit out of him. But when he's stealing luxury's he has it coming.

if you ever try to steal anything from another person, of course you have to realize you're putting yourself in danger. hes lucky he wasn't beaten to death.
The guy was a father of five, chances are he needed all the money he earned to support them, and just getting your shit stolen is horrible
When you try to steal something you forfeit any right to not having your face caved in.
This so much, the thief has no rights what so ever.

The guy has reported that this has happened on multiple occasions, it isn't really a stretch of the mind to say that it was probably these guy doing it constantly. If that is the case, I really have nothing to say. Shit happens when you poke a bear with a stick.
Can't say he deserved such a beating, but I guess he shouldn't have done it in the first place.
He deserved a punch to the face, getting 2 broken legs and a broken arm over this is excessive.

when times are tough and someone keeps stealing gas from your car, its well deserved that he gets it.

How is it anything similar?
I'm pretty sure having your arms and legs broken, a temporary ailment that heals - is far different to becoming tetraplegic, meaning you can never use them again.

It doesn't quite work like that way in first world countries to be honest.

True, but there needs to be some kind of balance.

in most countries, if you become a criminal you forfeit most of your civilian rights.
