One of the creepiest places in the Metro series.
Any story related spoilers were edited out.
I didn't find that place creepy, I found it more interresting.
The other part in room full of beds in the tunnel with the spiders fucked me up the most.
Mainly because I ran out just as "it" started happening.

I was really immersed into the game when I got here, so I was a bit freaked out.
Fuck this part of the game, I couldn't walk through it without talking to my bloody friend!
:v:
Best part of the game has to be the swamp level.
If it weren't for me being a grizzled ranger from the first game this would've freaked the hell out of me.
I really want to know what it feels like to experience this level without knowing anything about the Metro series
wow looking at that I really missed out, I had my night vison turned on the whole time.

That's a fucking nightmare even on normal difficulty...
personally, the creepiest part of the game was when [sp] when you use the car to push the wrecked train along the tracks, there's a side room where you can find a bolt-action rifle, and when you grab it, bloody ghosts start materializing out from the bodies[/sp]
there's a video of it here if you wanna get spooked
The scariest part for me was [sp] when i stumbled into the moving skeletons in the sewers. Heart skipped a beat.[/sp]

Yeah, I was a lot more interested in trying to figure out what these people were doing when the nuclear-tipped brown stuff hit the fan with re-entry velocity. And what happened to them immediately afterwards, I guess my curiousity had overritten my sense of fear.
But I genuinely felt sad scavenging through the homes of these people who had their own simple lives shattered and the survivors thrown into a world they don't know anymore.

That was the only scary part in the game for me
[sp]I got the impression it was a health-station set up immediately after the nukes fell and the people there were dying from radioactive poisoning.[/sp]
I always like to think that the ghosts you see are the memories of the dead that are still present [sp]in the minds of the dark ones. At one point there is mention of how they share a collective memory. Though they are mutated into something completely different, they might still have some human memories left that are relayed to Artyom due to his special relation to them, as well as other humans.[/sp]
Spoilers are minor, I don't give away big turning events. It's only 'spoilers' if you haven't played 2033
i found it funny how he instantly reloaded his gun after seeing the first shadow
"nope"
Anyone else dreaming of the STALKER series on the metro engine?
I couldn't stand the 4fps in the video at times
also every fucking time i'm in a stealth section or my nerves are on end
BEEP BEEP CHANGE YOUR FILTER
makes me jump out of my chair
This game is the first game that made me go "NOPE NOPE NOPE NOPE" out of an optional side tunnel. There has never been another game, horror or otherwise, that has indicated goodies in a certain area that I decided would be best to leave alone. It was in the railcar tunnels...

that part has nothing on the bit when [sp]THOSE SEWER SKELETONS GET UP AND START TO STARE AT YOU[/SP]

As Khan in 2033 explained -
[sp]Heaven, hell and purgatory were destroyed aswell, so the souls of all the victims were forced to stay on the earth and relive their memories. Not sure how Heaven, hell and purgatory would get destroyed but whatever, that's what Khan said.[/sp]
Not sure if thats a spoiler or not but I'll tag it anyway.

oh no fuck that room.
I noped out of it so quickly as soon as it happened.
Freakiest part for me was when you had to [sp]WALK THROUGH THE TUNNEL OF GRABBING HANDS[/sp] I wanted to nope out of there, but the game made me keep going.
Speaking of which, remember in 2033 when Khan tells you about the "singing" pipes and tells you not to get close to them? Yeah well I didn't listen and regretted it hah, talk about jump scares.

i dont remember that part, where was it again?

right before you [sp]jump in the river with khan. it's when you enter the semi-flooded tunnel and hang a left. to the right there's a pair of skeletons that sit up and stare you and follow you with their eyes[/sp]

I hope someone records this, I missed this sequence although I did experience the [sp]shadows in the side tunnel.[/sp] which scared the crap out of me.

video doesn't show it too well, but their heads track you when you move around.
I couldn't stand the 4fps in the video at times
For some reason it showed that in the recording even though it was smooth the entire time in game.

That's just a characters perception of the universe from within, and Khan chooses to interpret the things around him from a more spiritual perspective. Other metro characters think he's full of shit, does that make them right?
Facts in storytelling are never spelled out or downright revealed if any talent or effort whatsoever went into the writing, I find it more entertaining to read between the lines and find theories that cover all the points and views. But the beauty of it is that noone can ever say for sure how the metro universe works and giving a definite explaination would ruin the intregue. Sure, from a writing perspective it's cross-symbolism, associative parallels and the repitition of themes that are not to be taken literally but even if you're not into decoding narrative layers, you can just appreciate it for what it is.

Video too dark? I couldn't see shit.
I didn't find that place creepy, I found it more interresting.
Creepy is the wrong word, more harrowing id say.
The ghosts / shadows are 'harmless' you know this from 2033, but i couldn't help but feel uncomfortable throughout this whole section of the game, it strikes an emotional cord with you when your in the moment.
