Modern day version of the Sherlock stories in which Sherlock lives in America and was apparently a drug addict =/= 'American' version of BBC's Sherlock.

It's just another modern day Sherlock show, that's the only similarity I can see.

Sherlock Holmes did actually do drugs in the books, opium and cocaine if i remember correctly.
