I can tell which one's the priest, but the two fedoras have got me confused.
that rabbi is one cool dude
I would actually really like to have this kind of conversation with some people of faith, weed or not. Contrary to what /r/atheism will have you believe, many of them are very intelligent, sensible, and caring people, not just bible-thumping fundamentalist lunatics. It'd be nice to see their take on things.

That's because r/atheism wants you to believe that people who believe in God are a bunch of drooling retards and evil fundamentalist who protests kids' funerals and massacres atheists.

It's not bad. I went to a friend's youth group in college and spent the whole time having intelligent and engaging conversations with the members about faith
I have a Christian flatmate (and was once Christian myself, my personal beliefs are now more in line with Taoism) and we have good chats like this. Normally not high, though.

No? Theres radicals in every religion
As soon as the priest said that the Bible has nothing to say about smoking pot, I knew that this guy wasn't a good representation of anything Christian.
So when the Bible says to be sober it isn't talking about pot?
He is a preist from the episcopal church which is about as progressive as you can get, which is probably why you can have conversations like this with him.

Different denominations have different interpretations of scripture
Different denominations have different interpretations of scripture
I've never seen a Christian denomination (that actually held to any sort of Biblical authority) that didn't interpret it the way I presented. As far as I can see, the Episcopal church only supports marijuana for medical uses, with supervision of a doctor.

The law not to worship idols was literally written in stone doesn't stop people from wearing and kneeling to crosses.

I mean I am sure you aware of this but the fact that there is different denominations is largely because of differences in how scripture is interpreted/changes in doctrine.
Some denominations believe that baptism in infancy is invalid, some believe that practicing homosexual acts earn you a place in hell and so on.
It is hard to have a single Biblical authority when there is so many different denominations, particularly when some do not consider other denominations to be 'true Christians'

The Bible doesn't say to be strictly sober at all though, just not to be a drunkard.

I don't think the bible has a message of constant sobriety. I mean in other parts it talks about wine existing to gladden the hearts of men(Psalms 104:15), presented as a good thing. It's all about moderation, the way I've seen it interpreted.

There is an awful lot of feasting and merriment as well.

I mean Jesus made water out of wine

Other way around

Yes, wine is praised as a good thing in the Bible. It's even called a gift from God.
On the other side, it also says to not get drunk and to always have self-control. I'm not sure how you could argue that smoking pot wouldn't also fall into those latter categories.

Shit, this is what I get for walking into a bong tonight

I mean that's kinda the whole point of why people drink alcohol nowadays. Some argument can be made for taste but most people drink because they like to get tipsy.

I'm not sure what you're point is. Yes, you're right, most people today drink to get drunk. I'm not sure why that's relevant to what the Bible says about getting drunk (it explicitly forbids it).
With that said, you might be surprised about the number of people, mostly religious, who drink alcohol without any intention of getting drunk.
That rabbi generally doesnt know what he's talking about. He's Reform and there is no documentation of his going to a rabbinical school, he's as much of a rabbi as I am. He also heavily misrepresents Judaism's stance towards weed. It's only meant to be used for medicinal purposes and otherwise should not be used. There's also a huge kosher issue that the weed hasnt been checked for bugs or other contaminants. The prophets in Judaism could not have been prophesying while high due to the fact that all prophets other than Moses have only received prophecies while sleeping. Weed reduces dreams. To top that off, the "Rabbi" uses the wrong blessing that's reserved only for the priestly class to say during a specific time in prayers. If he was to bless someone, he would have picked another one that would have wished them success in a different way.
This video is weed propaganda and while I have no problem with that, I have a huge problem with their cherry picking people.
The first time I got super drunk was at a Catholic wedding reception. Let's just say I wasn't the only one there getting smashed either. Those North Dakotan's know how to throw a wedding party. Anyway, I don't see why weed needs to be held to any higher of a standard. I've never smoked it myself, but it seems to me that it's wildly overblown and stigmatized. It should be regarded at the same level as booze. Have fun, don't overdo it to the point it controls your life.

That seems to be the case for all three. You have a "Rabbi" who doesn't know much of anything about Judaism, a "Priest" who doesn't know much of anything about the Bible, and a gay guy who believes in astrology. It's like they went to some pot convention and picked out people who could play the parts.

There is one exception to what you're saying. On the Jewish holiday of Purim, you're obligated to get drunk enough to get confused between Mordechai (Jewish Rabbi who was the adviser of Esther) and Haman (Guy who wanted to kill all the Jews). However, you can discharge this by drinking a bit of wine and going to sleep. It's also theorized that there was a drinking song that had the two names close to each other, so when you've gotten buzzed, you would mix them up and fulfill the obligation.

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but the whole drinking thing is an extra-biblical Jewish tradition. The book of Esther just mentions that there was a celebration called "Purim" established.

It's a rabbinical holiday to commemorate the event and the rabbis set 4 commandments for it. One of them is to hold a special meal and to drink at the meal.

You don't really lose a lot of self control while high most of the time.
Also I want a sequel where all three of them do cocaine together.
