Us here at GamesByte have pieced together a short preview of the Diablo III beta and some of the new changes and functions within that beta. So if you have any interest in Diablo III you will find some of this information useful. GamesByte Special - Diablo III Beta + Preview & Changes - 2nd August 2011 So what do you guys think about the whole "Real life currency" think Blizzard are implementing? I can see it working if they don't take it to the extreme and allowing players to actually buy a complete set of high-end gear.
I wonder if by playing diablo 3 enough I'll be able to pay for it on the auction house. In all seriousness though it still looks fucking incredible.
My body is ready. I just wonder what kind of pricing will the auction house settle on, because if I can get like 50€ for some rare item, sign me the fuck up. And it's Blizzard, so I'm not surprised about the always-online DRM, their Battle.net reminds me a bit of Steam, except it doesn't have a fancy client and it's instead built into their games themselves.
I don't like it when games require internet connection to play singleplayer dammit!
The satisfying feeling when you noticed you've earned back all the cash you spent buying the game, via the new trading system. [editline]3rd August 2011[/editline] The whole "internet connection only" is a bit of an assholish move by Blizzard. It doesn't affect me directly that much, but I'm sure it's going to cause more problems than actually solve them.
I don't like it when games require internet connection to play singleplayer dammit!
That news completely killed my Diablo boner.
I hope they were just playing on a shitty computer cause they were getting FPS lag and the graphics looked pretty damn sub par
I still really dislike the art style. Where is the realistic gothic style from the previous games that everyone loves?
HIS VOICE SHITS ME ARRRRRRG
It doesn't look as good as Diablo 2. How good a game looks isn't about the amount of detail you have at your disposal, it's about how you use the amount detail you have.
I hope they were just playing on a shitty computer cause they were getting FPS lag and the graphics looked pretty damn sub par
Just FYI this is mostly Blizzard official footage. So yeah, that FPS lag and sub par graphics are not coming from us, which doesn't help the situation come to think of it. Gotta keep in mind that this is Beta though.
I don't like it when games require internet connection to play singleplayer dammit!
Same here... Though I can sort of understand why they are doing it... With all the piracy going on it's no wonder the game companies tend to use drastic meassures.

I just hope they don't focus too much on PvP in D3. I found it much more fun to just gather a full party and go kill the boss and then spam click to get the loot. Hoping to get that one set piece you've been looking for, for days. That was the charm in Diablo 2.
i've been waiting for diablo 3 since 2008 i just want it now
I preordered the game, but I still didn't get the call from GameStop to pick up my beta CD key.
It's going to get cracked within a month Always has been, always will be
And they're going to punish all the people who bought it.
It's so OBVIOUS that DRM was going to be implemented. How the hell are they going to combat cheating otherwise ?
The 8 minute gameplay video does it much more justice. After seeing that, I am amazed. It seemed so much like Diablo from the past. I loved it.
Looks horrible actually, don't like the character movement, didn't make me go "Woah"

I'm actually debating if I'm even going to get the game anymore cause of this latest info. Looks like some of the greed from Activision is leaking onto Blizzard.

Or that there's no mods (imo I never played any Diablo mods, the story mode always was enough for me and a lot of other people)? How is that even greedy? Tell me.

Or that there's no mods (imo I never played any Diablo mods, the story mode always was enough for me and a lot of other people)? How is that even greedy? Tell me.
The fact that they charge you 3 times for the auction house transactions. I find it as a very cheap tactic to make money by blizzard and I don't support it. It also ruins the whole point of pvp when you can just buy the best weapons in the game if you have the money to buy them. I don't mind not being able to have mods so much, but they are always a nice option to have if you want to prolong your game experience. Mods can also help with fixing any poor design decisions made by a company, what If I wanted to play a retextured Diablo 3 with a much darker tone to it? Now I wont have the option. It also annoys me that you have to always be connected to play, even if its single player. What if I want to play some D3 while I'm on the road using my laptop? Now I wont have the option. This all seems like a step backwards from what D2 was.
What do you mean "Charging 3 times"? Also, you don't need to use it. It doesn't ruin the whole point of pvp, because anyone with enough gold can also buy high tier weapons and armor. They cannot allow mods because of the money house. Although they may allow texture mods, I can see where they're coming from. If somebody makes a custom map that spawns every end-game boss in a cage that you can fight them, then sooner or later they will get an item that is worth a lot of money, thus "hacking" the auction house.
If you watch the video I posted earlier the guy states that Blizzard will be charging you 3 times in the whole transaction on the auction house. -Once when you put an item up for bit( Even if your item gets undercut, you'll still have to pay Blizzard for just making the auction) -Once when your item gets sold -Once when your money gets transferred to your paypal account. Are you telling me this doesn't sound greedy to you at all? I'd be fine with it all if it wasn't for that fact that you get charged just for putting an item up for auction.

It is a little greedy, but it just makes it better when you find a popular item on the AH that you can undercut (people won't be selling common items [e.g. pots, materials, etc]).
I just really don't know if i'm going to buy D3 anymore. Well, i guess i'll have to make due with Batman Arkham city, Skyrim and DXHR..
diablo 3 looks like to be the best game in this decade, even better then skyrim insta buy for me
Well, it looks like I'm going to play this and cry over the fact that other people are getting ripped off on an optional part of the game.

Also all loot drops will be assigned to a single player, stuff you can't pick up won't be visible to you.
