Petition for London Independence from United Kingdom
Thousands of people are signing a petition calling for Sadiq Khan to declare London as an independent city state and join the EU.
The capital overwhelmingly voted to remain in the EU during yesterday's referendum, bucking a national trend which saw the Leave campaign secure victory.
And this morning a petition calling for London to be declared independent from the UK was backed by more than 8,000 people in a few hours - and the total is rising rapidly.
The online campaign came as Londoners flocked to social media to demand the capital becomes an independent state.
Seems a bit extreme if you ask me.
Now this is just being outright stupid, what the fuck.
London is practically a country into itself
We should form a "EUK" composed of Scotland, London, Northern Ireland, and Gibraltar
this shit is fucking surreal holy shit
London and Scotland should become a new country and leave England behind
A lot of my friends have been sharing and signing this and holy crap is it just kneejerk stupidity from people who don't even have the basic idea about economics.
This is what happens in modern times when people are very upset they do online petitions and rant and rave on social media instead of try some real political activism

I guess its better than rioting in the streets.
Well, London is larger than many countries in the EU. Not saying this is at all realistic or practical, but it's not like the economy isn't there.
You all can join the other prestigious nations such as Andorra, Monaco, and The Vatican.

It's a PR move to prove a point, nothing more.

Nailing your balls to the floor as part of an interpretive dance protest against the ill treatment of feral pigeons.

An independent London would probably do as well as Singapore or something

Would be interesting to see relations between Hong Kong and an independent London, just from a historical perspective.
About time, fuck off London.
making a petition to give my butthole independence from my ass

Can I join you guys please?
This is pathetic.
London could do really well economically as an independent state. Think of all the salt they could sell.
From a technical standpoint; This is actually doable right? Because of the whole Town of London VS City of London thing.
technically yes but parliament is also in the city so splitting off would be pointless
This whole thing is a fucking shambles
Why are you taking this seriously? I mean it's clearly a joke when you read it...

Piss on the flag and write to mp
This whole referendum is a massive shitfest, and it ALL has to do with the Remain campaign being unable to really put the point across that the Brexit is absolutely irrational in economic terms.
But fuck that, areas that are more than 98% white and British don't want immigrants because they take their jobs or something, soooo I guess we better fuck the entire country up because of that.

Hard to say that when the entire country was already fucked up

Fucked up how? If you think how the UK economy was this Monday was fucked up, then boy I have bad news for you, because it's all downhill from here.
100% behind this. London is very politically different from the rest of the UK as well as having a large enough GDP and population to stand on their own.

I wouldn't put all the blame on the remain campaign. A lot of voters were willfully ignorant and decided that expert opinion and statistics were worth less than nothing compared to their skewed view of reality.
