Remedy Entertainment, the studio behind Max Payne and upcoming Xbox One title Quantum Break, has filed a trademark for Alan Wake's Return, sparking speculation a new game set in the Alan Wake universe may be on the way.
The trademark listing was spotted on the European Union Trademark Database by a NeoGAF user, who also noted that an Alan Wake's Return website was registered in 2015.
Although the listing states Remedy Entertainment is the owner of the trademark submission, it is possible the studio was not involved and it was instead submitted by a third-party. Hoax trademark listings for highly-sought after game sequels regularly appear on databases, most notable among these is the Half-Life 3 submission that was later revealed to be a fake.
Additionally, a trademark registration doesn't necessarily mean a new project is in development.
In September 2014, Remedy's creative director, Sam Lake, said the studio would like to return to Alan Wake some day.

For those unaware the original Alan Wake follows the storyline of his work in progress novel 'Departure'
So 'Return' is very fitting! Excitement get.

Absolutely loved Alan Wake, even the dlcs. Replayed it a few times.
Can't wait till the 2nd. Hope it isn't an xbone exclusive like the first one was for the 360 for a long time.

thats why im lovin it, man
If the writing is actually good, I'll check it out.
That's what bothered me about Alan Wake and kept me from going on after the first hour or two, the dialogue was horrible. Was like it was written for 10-year olds to understand... which is bad when the main character is supposed to be a best-selling author of thrillers...
I could care less if it was just the dialogue, being as it takes place in this small hick town in the middle of nowhere, but even when he is narrating parts of the game, he lacks any real form of description. Sure, it shows you what's happening on-screen... but he's an author. He's supposedly great at bringing words to life...
Guess the mention of Stephen King in the beginning, plus all the little references making the game seem to be a love-letter to his works, put my expectations too high in the writing side of things.

Alan Wake didn't do well till it hit the PC. And with Quantum Dream coming to PC it looks like they learned from the past.

Gimme that, and some more diverse enemies, and I'm certainly game for another Alan Wake.
I mean, being in the woods of Maine at night, and yet not a single possessed deer or bear. Pit Alan against a Darkness-possessed stag, and you've got yourselves a FIGHT.
I'm not surprised, there is clearly some sort of mini-ARG for the game that has briefly appeared in Quantum Break gameplay randomly.

It was probably translated from Finnish. Hopefully it's gotten better.

That's depicted in the manuscripts that you pick up and are supposed to be reading, he doesn't need to describe too heavily what's going on because alot of it is already done through the manuscript pages. If you really wanted the shit behind the stuff that is going on, it's there in the manuscript right down to the random character appearances. A Lot of the game is foreshadowed through the manuscript. Many of the boss encounters in the game are pretty much hinted at, some of the background twists are hinted at and alot of character motivations are hidden through the manuscripts. They aren't essential to understanding what the game's plot is about but they help fill the gaps when shit doesn't make sense at all, especially with the DLC.
What i can say however is that the philosophy "Show don't tell" should apply to the dialogue. Although he narrates as a writer, there are some thing that could be cut down and just shown. But i think alot of it was subjective, i was able to enjoy it and alot of others were able to enjoy the story through the dialogue. It comes down to being aware of where it was inspired from and in case we are forgetting, Stephen King dumbed down shit too and his dialogue wasn't exactly top class in some of his stories (*Cough*The Langoliers *Cough*). It still was very entertaining. I don't think i entirely blame your taste as the first episode is pretty slow, and shit doesn't really start picking up towards mid episode 2.
I really enjoyed this game, i enjoyed it so much that i actually ran over the game again and beat it on Nightmare, and it's DLC episodes too.
Considering where American Nightmares left off, i don't think it'll be what you're looking for.

I think you kind of misunderstood what he was saying?
He was complaining about the dialogue not being well written, not that it didn't sufficiently explain what's going on.
