Stephen O'Malley is an underground extreme metal icon from New York City, but by far the most energetic (so to speak, their tempos are coma-inducingly slow) and intense act of his. Layers of creeping feedback only accent the distressed vocals and dissonant, fractured lyricism of Alan Dubin. There have been tales of bleeding, broken fretboards, and SOMA's own mic-to-amp technique live. Although their torturous career only lasted a short six years, Dubin commented that "Lack of interest from certain members", Khanate still haunts the hearts and minds of every SOMA fan.
