holy shit it looks great, despite the really awkward voice acting and lack of polish, but the latter is to be expected in this early state thanks for posting this OP, I'm hype for this one, loved the old CoC games
Very excited for this and The Sinking City by the Sherlock Holmes devs, can't wait to spielen the horror ambiente as a detective
Taken down?
Here's a reupload.
the guy voicing the player character is very shatner-esque
Looks interesting but oh god that audio.
also here's a December update on The Sinking City that nobody posted
Looks very unpolished.
Looks very unpolished.
Bottom left corner
Bottom left corner
Yea but after being in development for so long I had higher hopes. I thought it'd be nearly done by now.
Looks like an amazing game I'll be too scared to play after 30-45 minutes.
Sounded like an OneyPlays video for a couple seconds, jesus christ. Like even the word "shyster" is some goofy shit he would say
Something tells me they were in the middle of the audio pass, particularly timing and mixing, when they recorded this gameplay footage. Like, the audio itself for the most part is fine, but the timing is really stilted (the lines are delivered too close together) and everything is mixed really loud. But, it is an early demonstration. And I know first-hand the experience of "showing off something before it's properly mixed," so I'm confident that they'll get those issues hammered out in due time.
Video unavailable
Video unavailable
There's a mirror a couple posts down from the OP
The artstyle looks pretty nice, nice focus on silhouettes.
The voice acting seems unfinished. Certain lines seemed to start and stop abruptly.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't voice acting usually finalized near the very end of the development cycle? I thought I looked pretty good.
I for the life of me don't understand why they went with a fixed protagonist in a game where one of the central parts is creating your own character.
SonofBrim;53135729']Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't voice acting usually finalized near the very end of the development cycle? Actors are brought in around the middle, record as the game enters Alpha, make changes during the Beta, and dialogue is re-recorded as necessary.
Hope it ends up good, the original CoC is a really good game, but also janky, samething, it has some silly VA, but overall a really good game except like the final 4th which is FPS town. Gaming really needs a solid Lovecraft game, while Bloodborne is the best, id love for a proper direct lovecraft game.
Amnesia The Dark Descent is also a good one, even more lovevraftian in its nature than bloodbourne imo
Looks ...Passable.
i will fight you if you say a dumb sanity meter is a better storytelling mechanic than Insight
Nah, the sanity meter is not really a great mechanic, the game could have done without it tbh. [editline]16th February 2018[/editline] I just feel like the minimalist nature of Amnesia, along with the setting, story and the characters is very lovecraftian.
at the end he pulls out nothing but a bit of seaweed, so the squid-thing's attack was a hallucination?
at the end he pulls out nothing but a bit of seaweed, so the squid-thing's attack was a hallucination?
Maybe, like in the trailer, you will start to probably question your sanity, wheter what you see is real or not. Beside in true Lovecraft fashion, it will surely play on your mental condition when coming in contact with the Eldritch nature of things.
