no, no, i love Death Grips, they're my favorite band i've followed them for a while
but they've got a really weird love-hate relationship with their fanbase. they've skipped a ton of their own shows and generally don't have the best attitude when dealing with them.
i just want the band to stay together and for Stefan Burnett to not kill himself

i think he's calling attention to how a lot of people latch on to death grips and spout stupid references to them as if they're some kind of wild, out-there musical act (when in reality, a lot of their work can be considered pretty accessible). he's not trying to claim indie cred for liking the band.

tbh i never really thought death grips was really that out there, they're still good af but i can casually listen to them pretty easily
that being said i've started casually listening to the caretaker and tim hecker so maybe i'm not the best judge of what is and what is not out there

you know there's no proof of their feelings for or against the fanbase, besides the JENNYDEATHWHEN song title thing that happened and that the skipped shows most likely have to do with stefan's destroyed vocal chords, the big leak, and creating an album ( e.g. fashion week, or andy traveling / being out of country for legal reasons / recording with bjork )
