Pick a comic of his, and analyze it. Find out the story behind it, and what Joan is trying to tell the reader.

People will try to solve a situation, even if it's hopeless of even trying to solve it. They will "help" just for the hell of it, usually ignoring the real problem, and going on with the wrong actions that don't contribute to solving the hopeless problem.

Victims suffering from abuse hide it from the outside world. Their friends may notice something is wrong, and may ask their friend what's going on. The victim can make up excuses and and distract their friends away from their problems, by downplaying them or other means. On the inside, it's killing them because they believe all is lost.

I think this comic is discussing how dating is done in the digital age; you may find someone attractive online and your flirt with them and think everything is good. Then you meet them in real life, and they look completely different from their online persona.

I think this can be interpreted as a criticism of a man's (figuratively as a species and literally since it tends to be behaviour associated with masculinity) tendency to "go it alone" and do things without exterior help, even if it means a botch or even harm.
